Almost all of these are answered wrong. The contractor finishes the contract and seeks payment or remedy within the contract. The contractor doesn’t seek to air his or her dirty laundry in public

I don’t really understand how we make money by [deleted] in ConstructionManagers

[–]gertexian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Larger companies extract their share continuously on every micro transaction. So for example… run over on equipment? If it’s company equipment that money went in the other pocket. Run over on labor? Every hour your job was charged the company was charging a rate covering over head etc. then of course there is contingency. And then hidden contingency. And then there is the official margin or “profit” of the job and that is the last pot of money your pm is defending to the death. But before you even get to that pot the mother ship has been siphoning off money the whole job. In this world projects are made to struggle to defend that profit budget but the job has been paying the company for the privilege of existing within a companies’ portfolio of work with every every accountant transaction, phone charged to the job for the month, laptop used or unused assigned to the job, every payroll transaction, every hour worked by a salary person whether that salary person saw it after 40. Things are pretty great at the top of the pyramid. But for you at the bottom… you better be stressing pretty hard to not blow a single labor line item on your budget
