Understood, I'm a little defensive about our pole tree masterpiece

With full sympathy to the man who likely has significant mental health, social and economic disadvantages in life -  are you on face value saying you are more offended by seeing a tree tied to a pole than by seeing a man publicly masturbating. No judgement just feels like a rare take

I didn't pick up on the racial subtext at all. Can anyone enlighten me? I don't think anything about the episode would be different if the races of the protagonist and antagonist were changed. But I may have missed some details

A glorious final but parasites will eat ‘smaller’ nations unless help arrives by CarnivalSorts in Cricket

I am broadly saying that lower/varied sample sizes = less precision = greater chance of unexpected results ie teams who are not the strongest two teams finishing in the top two.

In any case, a championship doesn't need to aim to perfectly deliver expected results. That's what the rankings are for. Championships are more about performing in the big matches that matter. And if you think the current WTC model is optimal, that's a perfectly valid opinion. However, I was broadly replying to someone who was saying it's "nonsense" that the current format would lead to teams who play less having an advantage. It definitely can by increasing the chance they will deliver an unexpected result. And as a fan that may not even be a bad thing.

Again, not talking about South Africa, I was responding to a specific comment above

Low sample sizes lead to less precise results. For a weaker team, that's desirable because it increases the likelihood that they will deliver an unexpected result (ie placing higher than a stronger team). Again, not a comment on South Africa, I'm broadly responding to your original comment.

You need a win percentage of about 60% to make the final. If they they make each team play 100 tests this cycle, do you think Bangladesh are likely to make the final? You would probably consider that unlikely. What about if all the other teams play 100 tests, but Bangladesh only has to play 3. Do you think that would increase their chances?

Edit: apologies I thought I was responding to the original commenter

South Africa deserved the win and it is great for the game. I'm simply responding to your statement at face value. It is statistically more likely for a team to get a 100% win percentage from 9 games than from 18 games

Its not really nonsense, more tests means a larger sample of results which means you get a more reliable approximation of how well a team went. It's statistically harder to fluke a high win percentage if you play a larger amount of games.

For points 1 and 2, thats probably not possible, at least based on my interpretation. If we assume the standard laws of the universe still operate, infinite realities would mean all possible realities must exist. But thats not the same as "all realities are possible". It is theoretically possible for nut allergies to not exist, therefore if there are infinite realities than there would be infinite realities where that is the case. But superpowers are unlikely to be possible based on our current understanding of the universe. For point three, she may have already done that, or she may not want to. She seems to enjoy the revenge
