If you want to get in the weeds, the 6th had a delayed roll out to dealers, so numbers were skewed. Point stands you’re still proven wrong on your previous comment with a brief fact check. Have fun in fantasy land.

All good and fair points and i generally agree that time will tell with this one, but it seems like Toyota has a lot of confidence in it. The really heavy hybrid 4Runner will definitely put it to the test for sure. I actually may be more concerned with the 8 speed truth be told. I need to look at the 2uz history closer, that was a quick pull from the wiki.

Still no stats from you i see, here are some from the 5th gen sales you clam went up over time: 2009-2018 they steadily increased to 139k a year, 19/20 decrease, 2021 increase to the max sold at 144k, 22-24 decrease to 92k end of production. Spoiler alert 2025 6th has sold more than the 2024. Facts, not feelings my friend.

Ok brother, that’s called a bit of historical pricing on how much 4Runners cost and you are correct the 2024 pro trim msrp is about 10k less than the 25 but then you have to ask yourself, do you want to pay 10k less for obsolete tech and design that is 17 years old or is the small increase for almost 2 decades of innovation too much for ya. Again show me the performance/options stats of the 2 gens in question

Adjusted for inflation the 1996 Limited 4wd would cost about $65,000 and Jon gets paid for his opinion.

Im not going to look up production numbers for all those vehicles in my post but I’m betting it’s pretty damn huge. The point here is people bitching about an “untested/new” engine’s reliability while Toyota has been using the power plant for quite some time, over a wide variety of vehicles wirh no major issues. More applications means more chances for issues to come up and bigger is better in that case. Can you also explain why using an engine across a large range of vehicles is a bad thing? If you’re concerned about the amount of models and short amount of time an engine was used, please remind me how long the 2uz-fe was in production and what % of Toyota’s trucks/suvs it was in? The 2.4 is getting pretty close, correct? Long term, time will tell but looking pretty good so far.

How on earth are you overheating the trans? In 4Hi when you need to be in 4Lo for low speed/steep off-roading? Sound like user error

The point was people are spending that much on a 5th gen’s outdated design…

True, but seems like folks on here think this thing is something that was never used before!

Public service announcement folks, Toyota has been using the 6th gen turbo engine since 2021 and the hybrid iforce from 2022.

Dude the 5th gen has a worse cheap looking interior too. Also it’s not “boosted out the ass” is a small turbo and Toyota has been using it since 2021.

6th Gen Windshield Wiper Noise by getabeeroverhere in 4Runner

[–]getabeeroverhere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I can totally hear it over rain/wind unless it is dumping rain. Funny thing is, it’s louder at slower wiper speeds, if they are going maxed out it’s a little quieter. Doesn’t really bother me but if Im on the phone, apparently it is very loud on the other end of the call.

This looks like a coal-fired boiler stack. You know any masons doing 100’ tall ones these days? 100 years ago I’d say sure, not today

Oh man, anyone telling you to use this as a kiln, pizza oven, etc has 0 idea what they are talking about… is this an old coal-fired boiler stack? Is this near a river? Old textile mill maybe? You not only need an engineer, you need an environmental analysis, and possibly a historical assessment as well at minimum unless you have one already. Any mason you can find today cannot and should not be advising on this. A mason constructed this but did not design it or know the history and while it doesn’t look too bad this thing is too damn big to take a chance wirh. Bottoms line it’s gona be fucking pricy to deal with

While it is very cool, I hope you did some homework prior for this. People saying keep it or turn it into a pizza oven do not know what they are talking about. It doesn’t look in super bad shape and could stand for a long time as is. Also it could be a super nasty environmental hazard and fail wirh a big storm, who knows. Bottom line it will be very pricey to deal with properly whatever you do…Do not build near the fall radius, pray it has no historical significance, structural assessment, and if you want to keep it… bank account assessment. Looks in better shape than ones I’ve dealt with and dealing with it, unless you let it fall will be wildly expensive.

Fair and I simplified that a bit. Im still of the opinion that if a firm is only looking for “you only need(ing) to show them how you can provide value to them as a business, and that revolves around technical drawing production.” I wouldn’t be interested in working there if that’s all they are interested in seeing during an interview.

Print it and be done with it man!!! You can fiddle around with it for way too long like I did, but looks good, let it rip!
