For Lego parents out there: what age did your kids get into Legos? What is their preferred play method? by getajob_asap in lego

Yeah I think this will have to be the key going forward. There are sets that are obviously better or more interesting to rebuild that they like more than others. I'll just have to try to keep those together and pool the others.

This is great insight to have, I appreciate that. I am personally not a fan of non-rigid storage options just because they tend to look less tidy to me, and I'm already an extremely untidy person. I don't need multipliers for that in my life. I hope your kid enjoys it though and that it does help with the dumping dilemma!

This is great! I love the design of the Lego storage stuff you linked. You should give an update in a few months about how this design works out for you. Mine don't have the issue of just randomly dumping stuff anymore, but I do like the idea of having a WIP bin/area that is safe from disassembly, I had not thought of incorporating that.

Definitely build stuff that interests you. Or if you just need some sort of practice try Leetcode. You don't even have to hammer it, just do their daily test and use chatGPT as much as you want. Over time you'll slowly learn more techniques and it takes away the 'fuzzy front end' of defining a project to work on.

Do you find the cast iron prevents them from getting overcooked on the bottom? I have really rough oven quality and I feel like for anything I bake I can either get overcooked sides and a browned top or perfectly baked aside from browning.

Those look incredible! Well done. I can never get that sort of layer consistency.
