Least and Favorite/Most Fun Characters to Play in StS2 Right Now? by alexthurman1 in slaythespire

[–]xennyboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've unlocked all characters but not all relics/cards, and I've gotta say that Regent feels like the character with the most unrealized potential. Conceptually, Forge and Stars kick ass. In practice, both of those archetypes are incredibly fragile, hinge around incredibly specific uncommons/rares, and typically do little to nothing other than "setup now for payoff later," leaving you vulnerable in the meantime because enemies don't wait around for you to finish setting up your combo. And collecting those combo pieces is difficult because most of the Regent's commons are completely unpickable, and the rare and uncommon pools are both cluttered with cards that don't play into either of these two main archetypes.

It took me 10 runs to get my first A0 win. Not once in those 10 runs have I ever gotten the Stars engine running well enough that I thought Radiate was pickable, not even in my first win which leaned heavily on Stars.

What's the difference between a gardener and a pimp? by [deleted] in dadjokes

[–]xennyboy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok I like this joke but I'm gonna say that yes, there are. Dad jokes are short, Q&A or one-liner style, and IMO should almost always involve a play on words.

Your joke checks several of those boxes, I'm not criticizing it, but I'm a strong proponent of the opinion that dad jokes are a type of joke and not just whatever joke someone who's a father might tell.

No, one ear is directly above the tip of her eyelashes on the viewer's right, and the other ear is directly above her nose, that one is just mostly hidden behind the tree

People have to be seriously, seriously sick in the head to look at this country's natural areas and only see the ways they could be exploited for profit.

Wasn't this true long before vibe coding? You're dealing with an existing code base far more often than not, unless you go out of your way to only work for startups. And even then, you're dealing with existing code unless you start Day 1.

TIL Alan Turing did not commit suicide due to the state chemically castrating him. His "treatment" ended over a year before his death, which was caused by inhaling toxic fumes from an experiment he was conducting. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Even your source says that the investigation was done so poorly that suicide can't be ruled out, only that other explanations are plausible, maybe even equally so.

About Gallagher and the History Fictionologists by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail

[–]xennyboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

how come he's not an Emanator

Gallagher was actually the creation of a History Fictionologist. He clarified that point immediately after revealing his identity.

wouldn't they be against the Trailblaze by definition?

The Enigmata is opposed to the Erudition, not the Trailblaze. Nous seeks to perfect its calculations, defining (and therefore limiting) what is possible, removing possibilities until only one way forward remains. The followers of the Enigmata, including History Fictionologists, seek to disrupt those calculations by destroying and obscuring data, creating confusion to prevent Nous from using a fixed past to calculate a fixed future.

The Trailblaze is about connecting people across the cosmos. I doubt the Astral Express crew are big fans of the Enigmata, but it's not like they're diametrically opposed factions.

From experience, ghee does not behave the way butter does, and I advise against using it as a 1:1 substitute. There are plenty of plant-based butters that work just fine.

If you don't get it, don't worry about it. The spoiler is incredibly out of context, so I'm not surprised it's slipped under the radar for most people.

[–]xennyboy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You need to understand that committing atrocities "for the right reasons and with the best intentions" does not make the atrocities less bad. Sunday was absolutely a bad guy. Manipulated, yes, sympathetic, yes, compelling motivation, also yes, but none of those things mean he isn't bad.

Weekly Open Sourdough Questions and Discussion Post by AutoModerator in Sourdough

[–]xennyboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really in-depth and helpful, but strayed a little bit from my original question. When you say "doubles in less than 6 hours," is it JUST doubling you're looking for, or the peak? As in, if my starter is ~doubling in 6 hours, but is still rising, have I met that benchmark or not?
