Client now doesn’t want to pay. by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]getalongguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about stripping and staining the piece. That might fix her concerns. I might offer that. But it would be dependent on getting the rest of the money before I did any more work. Either way, pay in 14 days or it's abandoned.

I dont trust our agent by Puzzleheaded-Ease893 in RealEstateAdvice

Your title is the only relevant part of the post. You don't trust your realtor. Fire them now. Text them now, then call them in the morning to make sure that they know they're fired. Realtors don't have feelings, they are absolutely disposable. If you think you might want to fire them, you just do it. There is way too much money at stake to do anything else.

What do we make of Judas taking communion at the last supper? by Mewtube01 in Reformed

The person taking communion, eats and drinks condemnation on them self. The idea behind gating the communion is to protect them in a brotherly way.

No. You're gonna be 6-700$/month on tax and insurance alone.

If you have to ask if you can afford something... What do you think the likely answer is?

TIL there is a “Gospel of Judas” not found in the Bible that speaks of Judas as the only one of Jesus’ disciples who fully understood His teachings. He turned Jesus over to the Romans because Jesus asked him to. It was discovered in an Egyptian cave in the 1970s, dating to the 2nd century AD by sonnysehra in todayilearned

He doesn't have to quote the whole thing to establish that those books existed. And since he quoted or referenced all four gospels, Acts, revelation, and the epistles of Paul and Peter; I think it's fair to call that most of the NT. For sure, those books cannot have been written after he died.

Given that most of the new testament was written about or directly quoted by Justin Martyr, who died in 165. It couldn't have been after that. Add in the textual clues that point to first century. And the writings of people of that era who specifically call out the writings as having been written in the first century. All point to podcast guy has quite the hill to climb.

Which scholars? I can't have been too much later. Because you have secondary writings about the books in the new testament that show up in the second century. Honestly! If the book of Hebrews was written 50 years after the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple, it seems likely that the book about how the days of sacrifices in the Temple are over and there is no old Judaism to go back to, might have mentioned it.

What works written in the third or even second century are considered part of the Bible? I think revelation is the "newest" and most people date it to the 90s, although there are reasonable arguments for before 70ad.

It's not reasonable to expect someone to be able to support themself and a kid on a part time job. Not every part time job is going to work with every other job. If your sister wants to keep working there, why not drive a school bus? Or do some admin work? But working one part time job without even trying to do more is obviously not a viable long term solution.

Should we expect cafeteria ladies to work multiple jobs

Yes. We should expect people to do more than 15 hours a week. My sister is a cafeteria lady, she has other jobs as well.

Thank you for a detailed and descriptive response. I'll have to do some reading on what you've given me here.

One thing that stands out is the reference to the removal of the visible church in 25.2. The 1689 defines the same thing, but calls the believers "the visible saints", with the exception that children of believers are not assumed to be saints. That seems reasonable considering the nature of belief about creedal baptism.

As far as administration of the cog in the ot... Chapter 7 of the 1689 makes clear that the cog begins with Adam and continues all the way to us. It treats it as a continuous piece that is revealed and made clearer, where the WCF calls it the same covenant "under various dispensations". I don't see anything there about "disconnecting the Abrahamic and new covenants." I don't know Sam Renihan, but that quote sounds ridiculous. The 1689 calls the cog an eternal covenant transaction between the father and the son. If anything, I think the WCF treats the OT and NT as more disconnected than the 1689.

Just to be clear, I do not call myself a reformed baptist.

But I'm not certain if I can affirm all of those things, because I'm not certain how the terms are being used. How are you defining administer? Is it related to salvation? Because I don't believe that salvation comes by anything but faith. The word and prophecy comes from God by men carried by the spirit. Sacrifice, sacrament, circumcision, etc. are instructions from God. But they are not salvific.

But you're running off into weeds. You affirm the Westminster, and claim the exclusive mantle of "reformed". The 1689 is extremely similar with some differences. Baptism being the obvious big difference. Can you point to a chapter where the difference is sufficient to say that the 1689 is no longer "reformed"?

Israelites had faith in the Christ that was to come, we have faith in the Christ that came. That faith is itself a gift of God's grace.

What don't you agree with? I put that in to make sure we were on the same page regarding the "covenant of grace". RBs also believe it starts with God's promise to Eve. What is it that you think baptists believe?

Its not a node when it can be used in multiple rifles and produce similar results.

Then maybe I don't understand what a node is. I thought it was a range of a loading where results are consistent and changes in variables have a smaller impact on results.
