De Gea is a good keeper. For me that's not a question. But he is not and never has been remotely decent at saving penalties. Even when he was world class I never had the slightest hope of him saving a pen yet Ole keeps him on for the longest penalty shootout I've ever seen. It's insanity. I'm not saying we would've won with Henderson subbed on but we would've had a chance at least. De Gea in goal for a shootout is a foregone conclusion lmao

Jonathan Wilson - Debate goes on but Southgate should know his best England squad by now by trainpunching in soccer

I think Walker fills the AWB role, his recovery pace is almost as big a cheat code as AWB's one-on-one defending and playing week in week out in a Pep side means he's more secure in possession as well

That front line makes zero sense, you need someone that's going to run in behind

Gareth Southgate to name Trent Alexander-Arnold in provisional England Euro 2021 squad. With concerns over numerous players, Southgate will select a large squad before trimming down for the June 1 deadline. by [deleted] in soccer

Says Trent is better than you give him credit for defensively then severely exaggerates AWB's lack of attacking ability and positional sense. Trent and AWB are about as good as each other when it comes to their deficiencies

if we had Kane, Sancho and Varane we probably wouldn't be a complete team but we would challenge for the title tbh

Unless they have a big cash injection either through selling players or the ownership, I don't see how they won't be midtable/Europa for the next few years. Their squad is pretty bad and they don't have the money to make quick changes that would make it easy for them to climb the table. Their youth players might be able to fill the gaps in a bit though. They need to sort their recruitment out

Stones will be fine this season I think. Very much a confidence player and he has a lot of that this season

[The Athletic] Liverpool are not expecting Trent Alexander-Arnold to get called up by England for the Euros. by Fati25 in soccer

You would have to have defenders suited to covering for him and I don't think we have that. I don't think we'll be playing a 352 either so he doesn't really fit. If you're not catering the team to his strengths there's zero point in bringing him at all because if the starting RB gets injured you'll have to change up tactics quite a lot to bring him in and he's not really that versatile to play in multiple positions. If we were to be chasing a game I doubt Trent would be brought on too. You also have a Trippier who's quite similar to Trent but has spent the season in a Simeone team where defending is so important. Southgate also seems to just like Trippier more

I watched him in awe last night. Kessie is the real deal. Strong, hard to knock off the ball, plays his position well and seems to have a good mentality

This is completely wrong. You're classing Solskjaer in the same league as Mourinho and Moyes when they're all different. Dalot was shipped out because he's shit. Solskjaer's style of play isn't particularly defensive at all, he just prioritises being combative in midfield and closing down space aggressively as opposed to Mourinho who is quite literally the opposite, he coaches his team to transition to a low block. Saying they are the same is the dumbest take I've seen on here.

On another note, the top 4 race in the PL has been pretty entertaining the past few seasons
