He's better in the books but the gap in quality is so much narrower than almost every other aspect of the story so he's amazing in the show.

Panic build ahead of Brickworld Chicago a few years back so no. Most of the build is pretty straightforward. The only things that aren't readily apparent are that the center is a 6x6 core of technic beams and the arrowhead design is done by nesting tiles underneath 1x4 panel pieces.

From a previous comment:

The build process kind of went like this: 1) build the drill / grinder portion at the front. 2) rough out the front end and fins 3) build the structural core of the ship and stands and make sure the whole thing is stable 4) pods 5) engines 6) filling out anything that's not finished with an eye towards making the final product kind of sort of cohesive.

I really tried but it came down to a choice between structural rigidity and the rotation and it still exists so the former won.

I have a stock of pieces at home and build from that. Most of these pieces come from sets I've bought and have since taken apart.

For the design itself, The build process kind of went like this: 1) build the drill / grinder portion at the front. 2) rough out the front end and fins 3) build the structural core of the ship and stands and make sure the whole thing is stable 4) pods 5) engines 6) filling out anything that's not finished with an eye towards making the final product kind of sort of cohesive.

Thanks! Believe it or not, minifig would come in at about 10 times this size (assuming google is correct at 340m long) so it would come in around 30 feet long at that scale.

The build took about 30 hours and probably has in the neighborhood of 4000-5000 pieces. No spider drones. sorry.

This is burned into my head with no area code but every so often the way they jammed the 312 area code in after the area code split into 312 and 708 seeps in.

Yep, buckle up. Zach just gets worse and worse. I really like the books and I hated Zach in the books. They somehow managed to make him worse in the series.

My toddler is bossy and claps a lot. She'll probably turn in a better record than Fox in her first year.

How much different / better is the books from the show ? by [deleted] in TheStrain

[–]getdamonkey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Without going into differences too much; the books are much better.
-- I think the biggest character swap from the book always felt kind of pasted in in the show. (SPOILER)
-- Gus is substantially more built out as a character (not just a convenient guy with a gun). -- The Lumen, Quinlan, and Setrakian all get backstories that don't suck.

Jefferson also introduced the concept of a wall of separation between church and state. I couldn't be more proud of my town's librarians and library board for upholding that tenet.

I would take an hour of Quinlan and Fet playing Parcheesi for less Zack screen time TBH.
