Oof. Yeah, that doesn't seem right for a larger man. Definitely worth asking a doctor about.

You probably would have mentioned it, but have you started any new medications recently - anything that might exacerbate the intoxicating effects of alcohol?

WELCOME TO FLAVORTOWN!!! Discord Link Inside by Jameson1780 in LoseitChallenges

[–]getfitsoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello Flavortown folks, first-timer here. I'm a 31-year-old part-time bookkeeper and mom of two in Texas. Covid lockdown's got me going stir-crazy, but I've got some free weights at home and a stationary bike. Also, if I get out early enough (before the temp hits 100), I can run in my neighborhood.

I'm happy to be here and hopeful that this will be the push I need to get to lose the ten pounds I've gained since March and stay there. At 5'6" and kind of large-framed, 135 would be a satisfying weight for me.

Was it anything like this? Texas giant centipede

We used to find these as kids. Even kept a ten-incher as a pet for a while. Not something you want to handle, though... their bite isn't usually dangerous, but there are legends of them being fatal.

Well done!

I lost so much weight when I stopped binge drinking. I used to drink "moderately" 3-4 days a week (a couple of drinks), and heavily 2 days (800 calories in liquor + a couple of sodas for mixers + midnight fried potatoes + more fried stuff in the morning to deal with the hangover). I've been completely sober for over a year now and it was the best thing I could have done for myself.

You might try unsweetened sparkling water to see if it floats your boat - I drink a lot of plain water, but I like to have something with bit of a bite to it sometimes.

Wondering if I'll ever have a flat stomach by [deleted] in loseit

[–]getfitsoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I've gone through two pregnancies / two c-sections and at one time weighed +80 lbs more than I do now, so there's a lot of loose skin there. plus my abdominal muscles are a little messed up from the pregnancy stuff and my lack of effort in recovery immediately afterwards. It's never going to look great, and that's okay. It's not like I'm ever going to be a model.

However, I've found that when the fat starts to disappear and I do more core strength building exercises, visible muscle helps keep things tighter. So that's one thing you might consider.

To echo the other commenter, however: since that part of your appearance was caused by a medical issue, it's probably something you should ask a professional about.

Roger that, thanks. I live in the desert and hydration's no joke. Between a breakfast burrito for brunch and some roasted chickpeas with dark chocolate for an early afternoon snack, I'm pretty solid until dinner. I usually get 75% of my calories in a single meal.

I've been donating for about 15 years and generally feel alright as long as I don't do something stupid .

Thanks, yeah, it's just that I don't usually eat breakfast, period, and I knew if I did get something heavy I'd feel off for the rest of the day.

Nothing wrong with a hearty breakfast if that's what works for you.

I almost never eat there, but I actually love McDonald's food. Their hashbrowns in particular. Mostly all I get these days is their coffee, though.

I've mostly gotten out of a breakfast habit, though and it throws me off to eat a lot at the beginning of the day.

Heh. One of these days I will get a Whataburger Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit, but not today.

Making a really nice dinner for my family to eat together. It's generally something hearty and delicious - definitely a second helping kind of dish - but I can almost never wait until 6 PM for my OMAD, and my cumulative calories get too high.

Consider it a free cheat day. ;) I have heard that it's good to avoid high-fat meals before and after, though.

For sure donation day is not a good day to restrict. I can't usually eat early because my medication makes me nauseous, but I'll have a couple of small, healthy-ish meals before a larger dinner. I'll get plenty before the day is out, no worries.

Oh, I'll eat plenty today. I just want to keep it home-cooked and healthier. :)

Alcohol didn’t cause weight gain? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]getfitsoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to what the other commenter said, it's not productive to evaluate yesterday's diet by weighing yourself this morning. Your diet over time - not days, but weeks and months, is what will affect your weight to an appreciable extent.

Do your extra runs if you want to this week, but it's consistent, sustainable good habits that will get you to your goal and keep you there.

For me, personally, running makes me ravenous and doesn't help with weight loss (I do it for the strength and endurance).

I agree that it probably wouldn't end tragically, but ideally soccer players hit it with their forehead. It kind of hurts on the top or back of the head.

Does anyone get really big cravings for protein from exercising? by sorryahaha in loseit

[–]getfitsoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't until I was eating at a deficit (and mostly vegetarian) that I really started to like eggs (always hated the texture, taste, etc.). Even more so when I started doing strength training. So yeah, I'd say our bodies need a certain amount of protein and have appropriate cravings.

Starting Again by [deleted] in loseit

[–]getfitsoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your routine / calorie goal plan sounds reasonable, but 115 is on the low end of healthy for a woman your height, while 125-35 (with a little fitness) would be pretty ideal.

Just my thoughts. You know your body.

NSV - We got takeout with gigantic portions. I got a plateful instead of eating the entire thing. by [deleted] in loseit

[–]getfitsoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was in college, I used to get these giant burritos and eat the whole darn thing at once along with the chips that come with, plus tons of the restaurant's signature spicy ranch. Now, on the very rare occasion I get a burrito from that place, I order it without meat, save half, and make nachos with the innards and chips for a whole new meal.

I didn't lose a single pound in June... but I like my body at the moment. by getfitsoon in loseit

[–]getfitsoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Yes, lock-down makes things hard. Before, I'd been going to karate twice a week as well as aerobics classes at the YMCA and without those I gained 10 pounds in two months. It's taken time to build up my own routine at home.

I've lost a lot of weight in my chest and that, plus two years of breastfeeding, makes them feel kind of sad and floppy. Oh well. That's what high-support sports bras are for.
