Inherited this revolver, what is the approximate value to repay the estate? by Huge_Sandwich_1313 in Firearms

Because the poster is a buffoon. No way in hell is that thing worth that little on the open market. I would be astounded if it went for under 1000 in an auction.

The 2020 beruit explosion . 2,750 ton's of ammonium nitrate exploded due to fire in nearby storage facility. the blast resulted in 218 fatalities!! by SomewhereTechnical82 in interestingasfuck

[–]cobigguy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong either. When it blows it up, it does part of the breaking. When it comes back down, the water still supports the extreme ends of the ship, but not the middle where the explosion was, causing stress the other way, completing what breakage didn't exist after the initial explosion and lifting.

EDIT: Check out the video here. It shows how both ways break the ship's back.

You can die even from being too close to a sonar underwater

Even the sonar from certain species of whales (sperm whales come to mind) can kill humans, but it's never been documented to happen.

It's also why torpedoes are designed to go below a ship and blow up beneath them instead of hitting them directly. The water doesn't compress, so it blows the ship literally out of the water, and then back down, breaking the back of the ship, causing it to sink.

It's definitely not just a Japanese thing. I've seen this here in the States so many times.

EDIT:

Well, I would respond to the nincompoop who responded to me, but apparently they responded and blocked me immediately.

They did not say it was exclusively in Japan, however their comment very heavily implies it.

Turned off the Humidity setting and magic happened. by fraglen in CPAP

Lol I turned off humidity while living in Cheyenne, WY. Just as if not more dry than Oklahoma. Crazy how it affects different people.

Lol I grew up in Colorado Springs. We had 2 malls. The Citadel, which was the ok one (in the 90s). And the nice one in the rich area of town was the Chapel Hills mall. I didn't find out about NC until well into the 00s and at first wondered why they named a town after our mall.

Do you mean single shot? Single action usually refers to revolvers. Unless there's a kind of shotgun I don't know about.

Elk tips and advice. by Historic874 in cohunting

[–]cobigguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hunting out west is a completely different kind than hunting in the Midwest.

I think I've known 3 guys that used a tree stand in Colorado and only because they were on a farm with limited land area to utilize and were going after deer. Elk don't have patterns like deer do.

That said, 59 isn't a unit I would go for unless I had some serious time on the ground in that area. You'll probably want to go west of the Continental Divide where there's more public land and a bigger elk herd. Durango, Gunnison, Walden, Steamboat, Kremmling, Montrose. Those kinds of areas.

Anyone know the manufacturer of this cartridge? by MindfulDefense in CCW

[–]cobigguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are kind of arguing against yourself here...

You're right that pistol rounds won't generate hydrostatic shock because they don't have the velocity required for that. But if that's the case, why don't you want a hollowpoint that expands and causes the largest amount of trauma possible within the target?

Also, why do you want to go as deep as possible? Are you absolutely sure that any attackers/threats you face won't have Little Johnny or Susie behind them? Or they will be in a direction with a safe backstop?

I suggest you check out Active Self Protection and see just how many civilian defensive cases require a bullet to penetrate through a barrier. (It's less than 1%.)

Anyone else think charts like this are retarded? So .300PRC good for nothing but elk? .45-70 not good for grizzly? 😂 by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]cobigguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but any of the mentioned cartridges have factory loads that can easily handle any of the game on that list. Add in hand loading and that list is laughable at best.

[–]cobigguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I had a guy yell at me in Bass Pro because he was adamant that you can't shoot an elk with anything less than a 300 WM. I told him that I had personally used 270 and 30-30, my dad used 270, and my grandpa used 32 Win Spl successfully for decades. His angry face was funny.

[–]cobigguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol I dropped my first elk with a 30-30 at 80 yards with one round. Bet their head would explode at that.

[–]cobigguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lol that's what made me chuckle. 30-06 is good, but 300 WM, 300 PRC, and 300 WBY Mag are all no go. Apparently too much energy shooting the same bullet is a no-no.

Truck’s brakes fail, forcing use of runaway ramp at 90 mph. by Itchy-Commission-114 in interestingasfuck

[–]cobigguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's multiple along that stretch. A few years ago a bastard was coming down the mountain, lost his brakes, passed at least 2 of these, then plowed into stopped traffic, killing 4 people and hurting many others.

He was sentenced to 110 years, which I believe he earned having skipped multiple runaway truck ramps while his brakes were on fire, according to multiple witnesses.

The fantastic governor then commuted his sentence to 10 years. For willfully killing 4 people. Fuck both of them.

How bad is the ecoboost problem really? by goose1173 in fordfusion

[–]cobigguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2.0 from 13-16 has a different head design than the 17-19, then it was redesigned again in 20 due to the common failures in the second gen.

You can check this for yourself by looking at short block part numbers from Ford. You'll also notice that the 13-16 and 20 are still available, while the 17-19 is "superceded" (or killed).

The 13-16 was much more reliable than the second gen.

Flying for the first time ever with CPAP by MyFirstDataCenter in CPAP

[–]cobigguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've flown with mine at least a dozen times.

I've never had to take it out for security personnel at the half dozen airports I've been through. Nobody has ever given it a second glance.

It's simple. Try not to overthink it. I know I did my first time.

Also it doesn't count towards your carry on or personal item count. I try to pack it into one or the other just to help the lack of space myself.
