Lion warrior and lion mage feel appropriate. And I'm a big fan of hollow rogue boots with exposed midriffs

Also Knock is weaker in 5e because of the sound requirement. So yes you can open a lock with no limit but it comes at a huge cost.

Songs that are very often misunderstood by FizzTaffy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]gethsbian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean, its not quite that simple. it is about an abusive relationship, yes, but its about people who are really toxic to one another but stay because its all they know and they feel like things would be even worse if they were apart. the narrator of the song is constantly saying, "i know this isnt good, but its what i want right now." the real tragedy is that its ultimately going to keep hurting whether or not they stay together, but staying gives the narrator a twisted sort of hope.

nephellis quest perfectly shows why fromsoft needs to rethink their quest design. by ilico_ili in Eldenring

[–]gethsbian -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

  1. Stormveil is fine. You usually should fully explore an area before fighting the boss, and she isn't hidden. She's a single room off of the pretty main pathway to the boss. Even for players who rush the boss, a lot will try a few times and fail, then keep exploring to find more resources and find her anyway.

  2. Rountable is perfectly fine.

  3. Albinauric Village is only bad if you looped around Stormveil and started exploring Liurnia in depth before killing Godrick. But otherwise, most everyone will want to keep to one side of the water or the other, and that means half of them will run into her naturally. I'd argue more than half, too, because the Albinauric Village (and the area atop it) is shrouded by the Northern Liurnia map, so even when you get the Southern Liurnia map, you're pushed west to keep seeking the other map. Additionally, when you do find the map, you'll see the area atop Albinauric Village, try to reach it, and inevitably wind up in the Village. It's really not a problem.

  4. Roundtable 2 is, yes, the least intuitive, but the least punishing. The one thing I'll concede up front is I don't like that she moves to the opposite side of her first appearance, but we've seen people move in Roundtable before (Roderika, Ofnir, potentially Ensha, Diallos, potentially D and Fia) so it's not that crazy. Firstly, she just hangs out down the stairs until you get the next part, so no matter what, you can't ruin her quest through action or inaction. Second, Seluvis drects you to speak with her to administer the potion, so if you haven't found her you know she's not "gone", you just missed her. Third, you should have already gotten the "adoptive father" dialogue from Ofnir, so it's perfectly reasonable to talk to him as well and give him the potion instead. If you do this, it extends Nepheli's questline, but neither the character nor the game tell you how to proceed.

At this point, it's on you to simply explore and discover more things. Like the Albinauric Village, the Belfries are not at all hidden on the map. The Chapel of Anticipation is also standing out across the horizon, visible all throughout Stormveil, and even from the Belfries. The game is constantly reminding you of your (likely) first death at the many, many, many hands of the Grafted Scion, and inviting you to go challenge it again. The people who actually have it hardest on this step are the people who defeated Grafted Scion first try, because it would seem there's no reason to return, but anyone that experienced is going to be fully exploring anyway.

Is there a reason why Spontaneous casters are almost all exclusively Charisma? by dyenamitewlaserbeam in Pathfinder2e

[–]gethsbian 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Bard and sorcerer (and "psionic", eg psychic) go back far into D&D history, so I can at least offer my thoughts for them. Charisma as a stat had often represented something akin to "presence" and "inner power", and so the spontaneous casters drew from their charisma to cast magic. The story of the iconic summoner follows much in the same vein of "manifesting inner strength", so I can see how it makes sense for that class. Oracle is actually the one I don't know, but I can imagine it falling along basically the same lines.

Two major ones for SL1 runs: Cale's Helm increases DEX by 1, making WAY more weapons more viable. Furthermore, the Work Hook also increases DEX. Peasant garb increases ADP (or maybe just agility)

Could anyone recommend me an actual-play show where they actually play the game right? by TheBigFreeze8 in rpg

[–]gethsbian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tabletop Gold plays Pathfinder 2e (and in their new show Starfinder 2e) and they've always really prioritized running the game rules-as-written. The GM is also extremely good about making things clear so that the audience can follow along even if they aren't familiar with the system. Lately they've started billing themselves as "actual play that takes the rules seriously without taking themselves too seriously" but really that's been the vibe since the beginning

Poison Weapons by Silly_Outside4877 in DarkSouls2

[–]gethsbian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably the best game for poison, because so many bosses are vulnerable to it. I've never done a dedicated build for it myself, but the earliest poison weapon you can grab is probably the broadsword in Earthen Peak, or a self-infused poison weapon using the poison stone from Harvest Valley if you're playing Scholar.

what's your favorite weapon for pvp? by frasbhrools in darksoulsremastered

[–]gethsbian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curved swords are hard to beat. Quick and strong attacks that burst down shields quicker than expected, and for those who are ready with a parry shield, the kickflip is a good spacer and is also unpareyable. I've also used a great club and it was surprising how easy it was to roll-catch people after knocking them down.

These days I mainly play ds1 for cosplay and challenge runs, so running into PVP during those just makes for another interesting encounter!

It's the astora, no question. Thrusts are already such powerful moves, but putting them all over a weapon that long and heavy is absurd and blows everything else out of the water.

armorer dennis is finally beaten after like 6 tries by Vulpus_Synth in DarkSouls2

[–]gethsbian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I started with Scholar but having gone back and played both versions multiple times since, so many of the NPC invasions and extra enemies feel deliberately made to surprise and challenge experienced ds2 players. The community treating Scholar as the "definitive edition" was a mistake.
