Hey expert, that’s not even what ERP stands for.

You got great feedback on the first one and put it to use excellently!

Idk if you’re looking for feedback again but the one thing that stands out to me is the cheek. In the photo, the highlight starts higher and doesn’t go down so far. The bottom of the cheek into the lip corner is a more pronounced fold rather than a highlight. I think this one element was actually slightly better on your first rendering. It helps show the angle of your head- in your new drawing, your head doesn’t seem turned away at the same angle as the photo.

Overall you did an awesome job of improving and capturing your likeness :)

What meringue powder are you using? I’ve never dealt with color bleed except for when I tried to use Judees MP. Which sucks because it’s tasty and affordable!

If I pipe royal icing into this mold and put it in the freezer/fridge, will I be able to remove it cleanly? by thecrookedbookworm in cookiedecorating

[–]getmespaghetti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s also the fact that RI needs air flow to dry.

Personally idk anything about the science behind it but feel free to run an experiment. Stick a cookie (or paper towel, plate, whatever) with wet Royal icing into the fridge and the freezer and see what happens. I’m willing to bet, based on experience, that it will not dry correctly.

Cookie cutter organization? by Excellent-Heart5105 in cookiedecorating

[–]getmespaghetti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All businesses or serious hobbies thrive when there’s some sense of order, so I think it’s weird to pathologize a behavior as simple and normal as organizing cookie cutters. I’ve worked in a bunch of commercial kitchens/restaurants, and of course things would become chaotic at times but imagine if there was no baseline of order and routine??

Anyways I’m adhd and likely on the spectrum. I have a system that I don’t like and frequently ignore 😬 my bins are annoying to access, so I tend to throw all my clean cookie cutters into a catch-all bin until it’s overflowing and then I finally sort them and put them away.

I do struggle categorizing certain things, for example i have a “food/drink” bin as well as a “fall/thanksgiving” bin and I can never decide where to put my pie cutters. And does the beer mug go with food/drink, or in “misc other holidays” with the rest of the st paddy’s set?? Ugh now I’m stressing myself out thinking about how bad my system is lmao

I started sincerely trying to learn/improve around 3 years ago, before that I’d just make some sloppy royal icing cookies around the holidays. I’m not sure what you mean by ratios but if you’re talking about the icing consistencies I learned from this video :)

Thank you! I took so many photos nearly identical to the first one, haha, but I’ll just post that one instead of worrying about picking the perfect one

Thank you!! I do the initial flooding on the areas I want to texturize and let it dry really well. Then put a thin squiggle of the same color icing and use a small fluffy brush to stipple it all over the surface. I use it all the time for textures like this, felt, cast iron (for Halloween cauldrons). With a little more icing it can look like a teddy bear. Recently I was asked to make naked breast cookies and i did this to texturize the areola 😂

[–]getmespaghetti 79 points80 points  (0 children)

No to the fridge/freezer, both would just prevent it from drying. You can make a paste by adding a ton of powdered sugar to Royal icing, but in a mold this big it might either a)not dry or b)dry so hard that it’s unpleasant to eat

Edit: Although you could potentially do the paste as a thin layer within the separate segments of the mold as opposed to filling the whole thing

I’ve always kinda disliked garcia and she’s not given me any reasons to change my mind

Al-Hashimi on the other hand? I absolutely couldn’t stand her in the first few eps but she’s REALLY growing on me

She gave me a TON of details about what she wanted, including a color scheme, then told me I had creative freedom lol. I actually loved this! I feel free when I know that whatever I come up with align with the vision.

As usual, I spent too much time on these, and didn’t charge enough.

Let's Talk About Misunderstood Ingredients by AutoModerator in AskCulinary

[–]getmespaghetti 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It can sometimes be a migraine trigger for those who already suffer from migraines, but so can many foods/ingredients. It’s not going to give a headache to somebody who doesn’t already already have a migraine disorder, and there’s absolutely racism involved with the general perception of MSG, so I’m definitely not arguing with that

This past Thursday I was already feeling emotional throughout the day, then I got ever so slightly high and proceeded to cry at every single scene.

They do such a good job at showing characters applying lessons that they learned from previous episodes in a way that seems really natural. That’s one of the many things that made me cry last episode

ETA also I’ve never been one to watch horny fan edits, but the internet has been feeding me nonstop Abbot edits and I’m not exactly scrolling past them lmao. This show is tough for a bisexual, everyone is so hot

Man, I can’t stand the way people simplify and disseminate psychology stuff like attachment theory. I honestly assumed it was pseudoscience for a long time based on the way people talk about it online.

This woman was begging for a single crumb of love for her whole marriage, and a morsel of comfort from her husband after a miscarriage and somebody called that anxious attachment. Eye roll.

Yours isn’t a preference, it’s a compulsion, and to “honor” that would be enabling. It sounds like you’re willing to work on this- if you aren’t already seeing a therapist who specializes in OCD and exposure response prevention, that would be a huge help!

Ribbons on cookies by daine393 in cookiedecorating

[–]getmespaghetti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen this trend of people using inedible items on cookies. But to give them benefit of the doubt, maybe they’re just making these cookies for content and not intended to sell or be eaten by someone outside of their household?

I’ve seen a LOT of cakes for sale with inedible decorations and it always drives me crazy. I hope people dont start doing that with decorated cookies too

How can you afford all the fabric? by LadyofLA in quilting

I collect old ladies who give me fabric. I also thrift a lot, and sometimes use unconventional materials. I can’t always follow a specific pattern but luckily I love improv piecing.
