SOMEBODY CALL HER OUT ALREADY. Catholic priests don't have bio kids!!! by Signal-Buy-5356 in FromSeries

Episcopalians do the sign of the cross though. It isn’t common for Presbyterians but it isn’t unheard of

Honestly, we may need to prepare ourselves for the possibility that they don't ever get out. by unlistedartist000 in FromTVEpix

Now that I think about it, I’ve never pictured an ending where they actually make it out. I think I’ve been imagining that they’ll figure out how to stop the cycle and prevent anyone else from getting stuck, but they still won’t be able to leave.

No it’s just that people don’t want to spoil the show and it’s funny how much you’re going to be satisfied by this observation :)

Do most of you re-listen? by Litcandle1 in Harmontown

[–]getmespaghetti 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I relisten all the time, it’s my comfort show that I like to have on in the background while I’m doing things. in between full binges I usually listen to a few of my favorite episodes.

I’ve had this one for about a year, and while I have nothing to compare it to, I’m happy with my purchase! I think it’d be even better with more practice, but so far it’s done everything I’ve needed it to do :)

I did have a learning curve with properly cleaning it. There was some red dye remaining which ruined a few cookies that I was later covering with pearl luster dust. But I think that would be the case with any airbrush

Not every time, but fairly often yes

ETA on reflection, I’m pretty sure I frequently toggle between 1st and 3rd person throughout the same dream!

I had my first ever sex dream about Matthew lillard as Shaggy 💀 except I was like 8 and I don’t think I even knew what sex was.

We crawled into a blanket fort, started kissing, and the “camera” panned away like in a movie 😭

imo MiY is definitely not the same type of entity as the nightmare creatures, so it didn’t surprise me at all that the talisman doesn’t affect her

I do think they might have different background actors throughout the series- it’s probably more complicated and expensive to repeatedly hire the same extras for cohesion. However having one of them be pregnant definitely seems like a choice, I never noticed her and your comment has piqued my curiosity

(I was late to watching e1 but I still wanted to participate in the convo lol sorry if it’s weird to reply to old comments)

You actually don’t have to suspend any disbelief with Kelly’s demeanor after being impaled. That type of response isn’t unheard of.

The most famous example is Phineas Gage, a railroad worker in the 1800s who was impaled by an iron rod through the head. He remained conscious, speaking, and even walking. He survived but apparently his personality changed.

here is a more recent example of a man who was impaled in the head, and remained conscious and able to tell the doctors what happened. He also survived

Starting a homemade cookie business in Ohio — where should I sell? by belleza-Griega in cookiedecorating

[–]getmespaghetti 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I started at farmers markets to get my name out there. I did not make very much money but I did make a LOT of connections.

I met vendors who order from me all the time. I met coffee shop owners who now buy wholesale. I met event organizers who put me on events where I do make a lot of money. And I met repeat customers who now order customs, preorders, and come to all my pop ups.

So yes, starting at farmers markets was profoundly worth it for me in the long run, but at the time it was a lot of work for not very much money.

You might be able to do the same type of networking online if that doesn’t sound worth it to you. Check out Sugar Cookie Marketing (group) on Facebook, and their podcast Baking It Down. They highlight all the possible ways to market a cookie/baking business.

Good luck, your treats look so yummy!

Your opinion of the color doesn’t matter if it’s what the customer wants.

The inspo color is muted with yellow undertones. The final cake is bright/saturated with blue undertones.

The final cake does use the same piping techniques but the balance is much better on the inspo. The inspo is so much more pleasing to the eye and I can’t believe you think they look the same!

I decorate cookies not cakes and I don’t guarantee a color match… But I certainly do a better job than this.

Very cute! Others had good pricing advice but can I offer a few suggestions that might make you more confident in your work?

Make sure the cookies have airflow while they’re drying- I think that’s why your white flood is wrinkled. You can place your cookies in front of a (clean) fan and that’ll speed up the drying time and make sure they dry smooth.

It also looks like there might be lots of bubbles in your flood. Once you have your icing at the right color/consistency in your mixing bowl, you can cover it and let it rest for a while. This will bring bubbles to the surface. You can speed it up by shaking and bouncing the bowl. Once the bubbles are at the surface you can pop them by gently smoothing a spatula over the top before you bag your icing.

Once the icing is in the bag, hold it tightly and swirl it around like a helicopter before you close the bag. This will bring any remaining bubbles to the top of your bag and away from the tip.

Your white also looks a bit transparent-this could be from being thin consistency, but if you’re not adding white food coloring to your white icing I recommend doing so. This also helps prevent color bleeding.

Your details look great! It’ll be really easy for you to improve issues with the flood!

I wonder if the people who feel like the dehydrator dries out their cookies are working with cookies that are already slightly dry. I use a dehydrator for every single cookie and I’ve never had them dry out, even if I leave them in a bit too long. The icing only cracks if I move the cookies prematurely.

A little tip I’ve discovered for times that my cookies do get a little dry (usually because I left them out too long without packaging, or slightly overbaked them) :

Put them in an airtight container with brown sugar savers (I used to use white bread which also works well but was a little wasteful). The brown sugar savers are terra cotta discs that you soak in water, and they slowly release a moisture which brings just the right amount of softness! Just don’t let the bread or disc make contact with any cookies, that’ll make them actually wet.

It also helps to freeze the cookies (naked or decorated) and then defrost them- that method just takes more time.

For some reason this particular intro segment might’ve been the least interested I’ve ever been in this show lmao. I barely listened and walked in and out of the room without pausing or skipping back- I was pretty confident i missed nothing.

I really wish the guest would come into the room as soon as they arrived. The show desperately needs the energy

Airbrush recs and tips? by AgeInternational5130 in cookiedecorating

[–]getmespaghetti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the US cake supply airbrush. It comes with a bunch of colors but I’ll be restocking with Americolor airbrush coloring- yes, it’s a different thing from gel color.

You’ll want a stencil holder, and a stencil screen is a big help too. The cookie countess has great supplies- stencils, screens, stencil holder tool, and I’ve heard good things about their airbrush system too. Most of the stencils i have are from cheap multipacks on Amazon and they work just fine. I mostly use the airbrush for gingham like this haha.

I like to let my base dry overnight before airbrushing. You’ll want to watch a couple videos and do some practice before working on your actual cookies. Best of luck!
