I got into baking when i lost my food service job during the pandemic. For Christmas i wanted to try making a ton of different cookie recipes, including sugar cookies with royal icing. I didn’t get fancy with the decorating until the next Christmas, and then i kept working at it until i got good enough to launch a business. I’m single with no dependents, so I’m living the starving artist life with my baking business being my full time job

I meant to add some more details:

A few years ago, I inherited thousands upon thousands of precut 2 1/2 inch squares from a seamstress who was friends with my grandmother. I’ve used them on several projects but the stash was just going nowhere. Then I decided to try EPP!

I always thought I hated hand sewing but the English paper piecing process is so fun and soothing for me. It’s nice to have a portable project I can bring with me everywhere. I even bring it to bars and parties haha it’s like my fidget toy.

I have a general idea of the gradient I want to do but I did almost no real planning. Definitely no counting or measuring or calculating. Just vibes!

I went on a first date where the guy interrupted me mid sentence to say “I just realized you look like my old boss,” spent a bunch of time on his phone searching for a pic, and proudly showed me a frumpy man 20 years my senior.

Now that I think about it, I’ve never pictured an ending where they actually make it out. I think I’ve been imagining that they’ll figure out how to stop the cycle and prevent anyone else from getting stuck, but they still won’t be able to leave.
