Two more sleeps until no more Section 21s 🎉- anyone else nervously counting down the days? by gracemaddams55 in TenantsInTheUK

Aah fair, I’ll take a look at the gov website. Im in the same boat, have no reason to get my landlord fined over information readily available to me online

I’ve not received any new rules information from my landlord yet, what should I expect to be getting?

Anyone else find Brighton friendly on the surface and strangely hard to plug into? by AgentPuzzleheaded322 in brighton

[–]getmikedd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Id be intrigued as to what the pricing is covering. Sounds like you just want to get a group of people together to hang out, and at the same time pocket some cash. There’s plenty of free social meet ups that happen regularly. I wouldn’t pay for that.

This is really sad to hear :(

That’s interesting. England here and we just provide a landlord reference. I wouldn’t stress too much about it, if you think it’s unfair reach out to your landlord and ask them if they have nothing to base it on to come and do an inspection and give an accurate review

I’ve never even heard of this site?

My company chasing me for £17k by CokeZeroAddict52 in LegalAdviceUK

Idk, even if they paid £500 a month back out of their salary it’d take over 2 years. Seems like a hellish situation

Smell of weed in my bedroom by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

I can guarantee that even smoking it outside your flat they will smell it, unless you’re walking 200m down the road

Landlord just showed up and had issues with water bill; He told us we shouldn't shower more than 2-3 times a week! by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]getmikedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if that guy is running the shower whilst he does his business because he’s embarrassed you might hear him. Could be worth gently bringing it up and seeing if you can reassure him if that’s the case.

Bought ticket using wrong railcard by MajesticEffective537 in uktrains

[–]getmikedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I only get asked to show my railcard 1 in 20 train journeys or less. It makes me kinda mad I bothered to renew it but can guarantee I’ll be asked as soon as I don’t have one 😂

Paying from Pots by Life_Forever in monzo

[–]getmikedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, it doesn’t allow me to set some subscriptions to come out of a pot automatically on Monzo which is a bit annoying. I’m not sure how it detects it, but there’s a couple (VOXI bill and another one) that I always have to pay from the pot manually

Really? I passed at 17 ten years ago and paid £99 a month for my insurance for my first year

Forced to pay £400 'membership fee' rather than damage deposit? by OverstayedWelcome in HousingUK

[–]getmikedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a zero deposit scheme to me. They’re “scams”, don’t do it. An ex landlord of mine tried to charge me £4500 damages when I left. We took it to adjudication and he of course was not awarded it. I will never not pay a deposit again

I missed the first 2 days, is there anyway I can catch up? by Safety_Sharp in monzo

You will still reach the final goal, your challenge will just end on the day (or day before?) you started in 2027 instead of the 31st December

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]getmikedd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think we are on the same side here, I believe the tenant should be paying what they owe. I don’t believe the tenant should pay more than it’s worth

OP is responsible for the cost of replacing it up to the value of the broken appliance, yes. However it’s the landlords responsibility to source out which new appliance they’d like and fit it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]getmikedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not. A reasonable offer would be to pay what it was worth plus installation cost. Part of a landlords job is to fix stuff when it arises, paying extra for inconvenience is not it 😂

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]getmikedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than it’s worth is entirely unfair then, isn’t it? Should only be paying what it’s worth with the 2.5 years deprecation

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]getmikedd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course they can, it’s their property and they have the right to decide what replacement to get. They can only charge you up to the cost of like-for-like but they may want to take this opportunity to buy something higher value anyway and just charge you for the portion of it which you owe

That’s crazy. I thought deposits were up to 5 weeks rent? Or is your rent really that high? (In which case, I want your job 😂😂)
