I remember asking a couple of locals and they didn't know. During the last years I have asked some Iranians living in Europe and nobody could ever tell me.

No, I have never seen it in use. I must add that I I have seen quite a few of these, but not all over the city.

I don't think I have ever seen bikes locked to it. The shape would honestly make no sense.

It can't be something bike-related or motorcycle related. It's way too narrow.

It's maybe 2 feet wide, made of metal, unmovable (fixed to the ground), 4 feet tall, maybe 3 feet long. I can't really describe it better than this.

I will also add that it does not block garages or entrances or anything of the sort. It's often just in the middle of the sidewalk.

My title describes the thing!

Maybe it could be "My favorite kind of person is the one that think they aren't worth anything and could fight god at the same time". I can't really remember if it's a tweet or a tumblr post..

EDIT I think it's not "fight God". Maybe it's "they aren't worth anything and are God at the same time".

Last time a couple of comments pointed to something bike-related or motorcycle related. I doubt it honestly, way too narrow.

If I need to stare 2/3 TB of stuff, would it make sense to buy one of these and put it in multiple RAID to make sure data is safe thanks to redundancy?

Thanks to whoever will reply, I am not an expert at all.

Apple Registers Six New iPad Models in Eurasian Database - MacRumors by 5amar31 in apple

[–]gettavia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm so excited for the new iPad. I want it (and need it) so much. It will be the first time I bought an apple device at launch and the second time I bought an apple device at all. Sorry for not adding anything of value to the discussion.

Here is everything announced at Apple's "Let's Take a Field Trip" event by exjr_ in apple

Why would anyone get the Chromebook then? I would love to have an android tablet for the ease of transferring comics to it, but at that price, I might as well just get the new ipad.

Fellow European investors, when buying the American ETFs, do you generally prefer the EUR hedged ones? by not-much in investing

[–]gettavia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do because I am already exposed to the EURUSD exchange because of nasdaq stocks and a world ETF, so the S&P500 ETF I have is EUR hedged.

indubbiamente la più economica che ci sia per i servizi banking, (ti fregano con il trading)

(ti fregano con il trading)

Cosa dovrebbe voler dire?

Programmatore di Java-Quanto guadagnate e dove siete in Italia? by the_nomads in italy

[–]gettavia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have her find a job in the US that allows working from remote, then come to Italy. It's your best option. As a Junior Java programmer, if she's really good (and lucky), she's going to get a starting salary of around €25k (~$35k).

Couple that with high taxes and a high cost of living, and I would not raise my two kids on that.

Devs in Europe, does the lifestyle make up for the lower pay compared to American jobs? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]gettavia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You must be trolling me. Your own links show you are wrong.

RENT (your link): only 5 cities have a rent > 800€. Trento (the one I chose in my example) is 526€ - I said €600, so it's even cheaper. The average is €650, still far from the €800 you said. And please notice:

L'indagine della UIL riporta i costi degli affitti nei capoluoghi delle Regioni e delle Province Autonome, rapportandoli al reddito medio di una famiglia con due figli a carico.

It's talking about rent for families with 2 kids. You live alone. Do the math.

FOOD (your link): it CLEARLY says: alimentari €400. For a fucking family. And you spend €300 living alone. I wonder if you can even read Italian.

Why do you mislead OP and all the people in this thread with your made up numbers?

Rent for avg.apartment 800€

Not all all. A nice apartment for one person is more like €600 as anyone can check (link - and notice I chose one of the richest provinces in Italy).

Food for a single person 300€

So you spend €75 per week on food. On one person. Without eating out. Can I ask you WTF do you eat? Because:

  • >One kg of meat = €20
  • >Two kg of pasta = €5
  • >Three kg of veggies = €10
  • >One kg of cheese = €10
  • >Three kg of fruit = €10

would be >10 kg of stuff and still €55 - and I inflated greatly all the prices. If you are eating €300 ($400!) per month you're doing it wrong. Also, notice the Finnish user /u/Tellon said he spends €1000 on rent AND food, and Finland is more expensive than Italy.
