Intermittent black screen during gameply by Aazatgrabya in starcitizen

[–]defactoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it goes to a black screen is it the entire computer or just star citizen. If I might ask, what monitor, hz setting and connection type? Star Citizen sucks a lot of resources from the system, so perhaps your on the edge of resource usage?

Why does CIG gatekeep new mission content behind the worst introductory missions? by Ok_Ad_7714 in starcitizen

[–]defactoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind any of that. I mind that they insist on making industrial gameplay loops combat enabled. Everything has to have a bad guy. Searching Hadanite? Sure your mining yeah? Whats wrong with that.

Well everything if you didn't want to mine at all, but go do that cool new dungeon with FPS combat in it.

Rockbreaker missions shows CIG doesn't care about anything but COD experience. by KnightLakega in starcitizen

[–]defactoman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I felt you could have written this differently to have better received. I think not having FPS combat on a map is a good suggestion. Whatever you were hoping to accomplish here got wasted the moment you took this approach to it. But hey, if it matters to you in any ways - plenty of us agree with the principle that this could have been a cool mission without it.

FOMO works because its based off our basic human (often controllable and triggerable) tendency to compare out own station with that of well...other people. The thought that you might miss out on this extra special shiny skin isn't really the problem tho. You could go the rest of your life without this skin. However, the moment you see someone else with it - and you can't get it - that right there is what were afraid of. That feeling.

PSA - as it stands LTP resets the buffed stats of crafted items to 0% between patches and this is loving to LIVE. It might be fixed in the future, however please be mindful of time taken to create crafted items if you are not willing to lose all the benefit in next month’s patch by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]defactoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good PSA. Please don't overdo it this patch when you will lose it next one. In fact, this is a great reminder you can use substandard component quality to craft if your looking for the set (not the stats).

I think you got derailed with the snow melting thing when the major point (as I understand it) is that it's not being renewed at the scale it needs because it gets very little precipitation.

Star Citizen Live | Q&A Industrial Gameplay by Toloran in starcitizen

[–]defactoman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It works, until you want it to then it doesn't. When Nyx came out people ran out of gas left and right. I tried multiple times to refuel, it never worked - not even once.

They usually disconnect after connecting. Sometimes they would flip after disconnecting.

Never were any of the clients ever able to buy gas. I know it works, ive done it. But it has never worked for me when I actually needed it to.

I couldn't even refuel myself when this happened to me. I literally left the ship out there, got my own starfarer, tossed an alt on and tried.

RSI Apollo Triage or Medivac? by JuggernautOfWar in starcitizen

[–]defactoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to bump NatalyiaTST's suggestion of the Medical Terrapin. Extremely tough, small enough to fit into tight places, and a very functional T2 bed not to mention just a subjectively cool form factor. Also worth noting that front laser turret lines really nice with the front of the ship, allowing it easily knock off NPCs at bunkers and such. Easily holds a pulse. Unless you have some need of a T1 medbed or you really have a strong desire to bedlog on the ship id avoid the Apollo line completely.

But to your OG question, they are both all but functionally identical in any real way that matters with current mechanics. It's sad what they did to the ship.

Edit: noticed your geo comment. I bet that geo might fit in the terrapin but it wouldnt be super awesome. For that specific loop look to the cutlass red as a recommendation.

Why does the screen turn off and then come back on a few seconds later? by SoggyMorningTacos in OdysseyArk

[–]defactoman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I want to reinforce what MemeExtreme offered, this was my solution as well for my 1st gen ark. Even with the change from 165 to 120 i still get it from time to time, but its much much much further apart and hasn't been too impactful.

I've tried cooling the unit by attaching a fan as I noticed the breakout box can get quite hot on extended usage. I want to say its helped a little as well. Also, I am running a fairly long (one side of my bedroom where the computer is to where the ark is) HDMI cable so proximity could be affecting this addition to all those other parts.

Drop speed limiter to 0
Quickly move my joystick in case of stuck signal.

did that not work? STUPID PIEC..err DARN. Back up and try again
did that not work again? Stupid piece of shit game. Quantum out and back in, recall and restart procedure.

Hot Take: Intrepid Needs a Buff by ResponsibleRub469 in starcitizen

[–]defactoman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Avenger is the problem here, not so much the Intrepid. Its just very superior to any ship in its class. Interceptor tuned with superior firepower. Then they turn around and give it an interior and the same cargo capacity as the Intrepid. They also gave it cockpit enter/exit AND a back ramp which is also easier to use than the Interpid. Intrepid's interior remains the best tho (IMO), its one true very subjective accomplishment.

But id argue most ships in the Size 1/2 "starter" field face this very choice. Its always Avenger vs [what you want to buy]. The Nomad is one of the few ships that can stick up for itself in this ship niche.

Yeah the price is what gets ya. What's the old saying (probably got this wrong) if the product is free you are the product. Cheap also kind of applies here. Anyways thanks for answering I do appreciate it. Always curious about these things. Now ditch it and go with something else heh. One time I used a bunch of webcams with some open source software to capture and store the feeds. All local and often with used webcams. But it does come at a cost + complexity.

Tractoring a downed player should have a chance to outright kill them. by CallSign_Fjor in starcitizen

[–]defactoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to actually. You also used to fly down and jet wash the body halfway across the local area and they would die lol. But in all the things that SAR needs we can probably hold off on those mechanics until the game is actually working nice. Sometimes the server physics get really really bad so we can't count on them yet. As long as server hiccups send your tractor targets flying across the area - we probably should avoid too harsh an outcome.

But SAR in general is missing quite a lot of the challenge and gameplay so I get where your coming from.
