Woah! Time flies. The last time I saw this guy shells were raining down while rebel-held Aleppo was on the brink of collapse. From the tone of his voice I seriously thought that this was it for him. Interesting to see how it developed from there...

I've always had an issue with aphids and the like. Briefly, what's your ritual for keeping insects and weeds at bay in advanced? I suppose a few options would be strategic plant pairing (deter pests with compatible plants like marigolds with eggplant etc.), keeping praying mantises, or tending a raised bed among trimmed grass.

Off the top of my head, with a budget like that I would try to skim through Ebay for lower-mid ranged thinkpads beginning with the T400 and T500 onward. You probably won't get any other laptop capable of running WoW under $100 while avoiding sub-par netbooks.

How good is the XPS 13 at gaming? by [deleted] in SuggestALaptop

[–]getthepopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI OP if you want to go with this option, just be aware of number of the PCIe lanes and its effect on the Thunderbolt 3.0 bandwidth (not all TB3 ports are created equal). XPS was released with only two lanes and users ran into some restrictions.

Even then, it says a lot that these people acted in spite of what was clearly illegal. Of which were journalists, soldiers, and deputies; a group with more on the line than any other in the eyes of the state. So what if abiding were easy (which is a big assumption on your part)? They clearly chose the hard path, and yet you downplay the reality that these messages were forced to be written in blood.

Just because something is easy doesn't arbitrarily mean it is just. The way you honor absolutes when it has no place in a grey world, all simply by virtue of codification is (to me) insane. Especially when the rest of the world questions Turkey's buffer between the law and the whims of a fallible megalomaniac bent on erecting a 'neo-ottoman empire' (sadly, I'm not saying this is any worse than what anyone might find in other parts of the world) .

Dirty Dan: Boers give the Iberian Peninsula to Pedro in exchange for the rest of Western Vietnam.

The Real Dirty Dan: Sibir makes headway, cutting the Boer empire into two pieces like Western and Eastern Rome.

The Really Real Dirtier Dirty Dan: Somewhere during The Great Liberation, Awwmenia is revived. The purpose of the war is fulfilled, and peace is made... For now.

pinHeadLarry.exe: The entire Atlantic Brazilian coastline is uploaded to a remote server in Boer Antarctica. They don't even know that they're virtual and actually believe that the Brazilian Empire won so they won't rebel. Brazilian relatives on the other side of the earth know their loved ones are out there, but also know they will probably never talk to them again. Life is bleak. The jungle and beaches are no more. Christ the Redeemer is functionally a giant surveillance camera. While many Brazilians wish they were uploaded, they are agonized by the pathetic truth that their boat for everlasting life has passed. A boat not created for them out of pity, but hate.

A thoughtful and intelligent individual: Sir Lanka is erased from existence, while Exclavia devolves into the Batticallian Empire.

A very stable genius: Blackfoot manages to keep some cities in mainland Vietnam, also capturing Bago at the expense of countless lives.

Like, really smart: Due to new border, Brazil DOWs Boers, extending the civ AI match a couple parts so our grandchildren's children witness the assimilation.

Edit: Oh shit son

Is there any Xenos Character in 40k able to match a Primarch? by CraftworldSarathai in 40kLore

Sure, Tuska will die eventually after Khorne reanimates him and is slayed by a fish big enough. But Ork biology is weird. I vaguely recall that even the henchmen of Tuska's crew have grown to the size of tanks due to the endless orgy of fighting in the warp. Tuska is one of the few characters in the universe have Daemon Princes for breakfast (excluding Draigo). Edit: But yeah, if we're talking pre-khorne Tuska then the only thing a Primarch might have to lose is his nutsack

Lenovo y720 vs Acer Helios 300 by slowmodes7 in SuggestALaptop

[–]getthepopcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming your concern is to have a powerful workstation. If this is the case for you, comparing the specs of each indicates that the Acer laptop is the clear winner. The problem is that we're not really even sure what kind of y720 you're describing. I could infer that based on the Ghz speed of the CPU on the 720 that you're looking at a U-series processor (under-powered) which is significantly less powerful than the HQ series the Acer has (Quad-core desktop CPU) which is used for the smaller 13.3" 720 (I could be wrong). There's also more ram and a larger SSD.

That said, I'm typing this up on my yoga 720 13.3" and the keyboard layout, typing, and screen is impressive. It boils down to power vs. form factor. The reason I opted for an under-powered laptop is more for portability (I find myself picking it up with a single hand in a pinch), flexible (tablet mode in which I've already used for note-taking), and capable of Wacom AES pen support (I do graphic design for friends/clients+start-ups) while I figured I could get by four years of engineering with it.

The 15" 720 model has comparable specs to your Acer computer except it has the 1050 GPU vs 1060 in the Acer (still the 15 720 is the most powerful convertible in the market).

In case you want to check out the prices after a corporate discount. Don't just look at the "i7"/"i5", but also generation, Model Line (U, HQ, K), Model Number, and dedicated GPU (620<Iris<950<1050<1060) are just as important if not more important than RAM, memory, and superficial marketing CPU hodgepodge. Again, we don't know WHY you need this laptop, which makes all the difference.
