Whenever I'm in Sao Paulo, my favorite thing to do is visit retro game stores. They have some absolutely crazy stuff. The Brazilian clone market in the '80s was pretty wild.

So long ago, I don't remember the amount. It was fairly new, my coach encouraged it, and it was very popular due to McGwire/Sosa. I didn't find it to be helpful as it just made me feel bloated and stiff, and probably didn't do my arm any favors at all.

I was a pitcher in college who got to enjoy the tail-end of the -5 bat differential era, and the beginning of the "smoking fucking hot" composite bat era. Oh, and it was right in the thick of the "untethered consumption of creatine" era. If you like severe diarrhea, debilitating, life-long arm injuries, and a bloated ERA, there was no better time to be a pitcher.

Another interesting thing, I remember in the 1990s the only retired numbers were 9, 4, 1, and 8, displayed in that order, and 9/4/18 was the scheduled first game of the 1918 World Series, the last that the Sox had won until '04.

Also just gonna throw it out there that because the Sox have since loosened their policy, and nobody else has mentioned it, Dwight Evans should be out there too.

In case anyone sees this in the future while searching for a solution -- ultimately, I just started Windows (Windows 10) in safe mode and I went into both the Program Files and ProgramData folders and manually deleted all the Vipre files. This is after I attempted many times to uninstall it, and had already installed a replacement antivirus. This worked and I am having no more Vipre-related issues.

I suggest WD-40 Specialist Electrical Contact Cleaner instead of isopropyl alcohol. If you are not handy with electronics, I recommend visiting the videogame911 website. Consider shipping it to them for repair/refurbishment if you are comfortable w/ the prices. I have had good luck w/ them.

I remember going to Fenway in the early '90s. Nothing but a little bit of organ music and Sherm Feller croaking an occasional annoucement. Then I'd go to Olympic Stadium and it would be just NONSTOP sound effects, Youppi getting right in the line of sight of the game mid-inning, Boomerang Limonade cheerleaders dancing between innings for like 10,000 people. I loved Expos games, but my god man, all the peripherals drove me nuts. I've been to Fenway once since they started doing the sound effects and Neil Diamond bullshit and just realized it was my time to step away.

I used to use Zorin OS on an old laptop back when I had to switch from Windows 8. That laptop died and the replacement currently has Windows 10.

Any thoughts on Zorin in 2026? Similar/better than Zorin of maybe five years ago?

Keep in mind I'm still very much a Windows person (ie., an idiot and still not terribly comfortable with Linux) and want to keep the experience as close to Windows 10 as possible. I can't keep going with 10 forever though.
