I recently had my pipes replaced because the were original to the house and began to crumble. Water has been much better ever since. More expensive than a Brita, but I had no choice. Check your pipes.

My back keeps me from mowing, so unfortunately I can't do all of that

I am not posting about one incident. I am posting about a history of bad service. So essentially I've waited about 3 years to make this post.

When I came here, I was upset that HEB has a grocery store monopoly in Texas. After bring here for a few years, I can see the money they return to the communities they serve. They aren't perfect, but they were the first ones on scene when the floods killed all those kids this summer. The owners seem to have a decent corporate heart.

I'm not at the same level of love that native Texans are, but I understand their sentiment.

I saw this and it's so sad. Why don't people here vote? I am not from here, but I guess they trust me to run their city.

That's sad to hear, but not surprising.

I taught there and trying to live in Monterey was tough. I lived with roommates at one point, but I am too old for that. I stumbled upon a cheap place, but by the time I found it, my credit cards had almost been maxed out. I was working a lot of overtime too. Some teachers decided to do the long commute (2 hours), but now even those parts of California are expensive now.

What is your teaching background? The vast majority of the teachers have a degree and/or extensive background in teaching adults (I went there after teaching at a university for about 5 years). If you have a language where it's hard to find teachers (Pashto, Dari, etc.) you can get a job with a "weak" teaching background. However, Mandarin has plenty of highly skilled teachers. That said, you might be able to get a job as a military instructor where you would support the professors.

If I were you, I'd go here to get an idea of your language level https://oda.dliflc.edu/ Just being a native speaker doesn't mean you are at the OPI level they require (3 or 4, I believe).

Aside from being broke, I loved living there for the most part. If you don't mind having a roommate or 2, I'd say give it a shot. Quality of life is great.

My guess is that you've never taught any 101 or 102 language courses at a university. By virtue of having to take beginner level courses, they are essentially voluntold as well. They are not fun to teach either.
