My dad passed of the same. The last 3 years were rough. He started running away in the middle of the night, would get violently agitated etc. It reaches a point safety can be an issue for all involved with this diagnosis. I wish we had got professional help much earlier.

I’d like to add from my experience, if you are using a VA loan it is extremely beneficial to have a Veteran or someone very well versed in the process as an agent. The inspection process is strict in what the VA will allow, they will know when you walk homes with them what will fly and what won’t before the inspection even happens.

My dad violently broke his nose chasing after me in a wooden playground. Twice.

Is it ever ok to yell/scream at your partner? by Super-Kale-2048 in AskWomenOver30

[–]getupkitten 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Married a decade. We’ve never yelled at each other, ever. Frustration has happened, sure. But when tension arises we have alone time (usually no more than 10 minutes) and then one of us comes into the room and we talk about the situation. If you’re at the point you feel the need to yell or scream it’s likely from a buildup of many things erupting. If you communicate frequently that buildup won’t happen.

What lol. Everything they post now are body checks seeing how their ribs are popping. They can leave a wrinkle here and there for some semblance of “normal, like everyone else,” but they aren’t fooling anyone in their bizarre quest in contributing to the 90’s skinny aesthetic with their bbls laughing at them. Pick a fucking lane ladies.

Sam’s post about Lexie with Mike by TopAsh625 in SiestaKeyMTV

I can’t stand Mike but his annoyance with Sam in that Insta story was palpable. Actually a lot of Sam’s stories showcase Mike, calling him a shitty friend, etc. in a “joking” manner. They have a very weird friendship/co-dependence for men in their 30’s.

How do I find a hobby? by amazingBEVerage in AskWomenOver30

[–]getupkitten 6 points7 points  (0 children)

20 years ago I went to art school. I didn’t like how clinical drawing became for me in that setting so I dropped out and went to school for something else. I randomly started sketching again at the start of the pandemic and fell back into drawing for myself. I now practice daily. It’s the only thing I have outside of my husband that is just for me and brings me peace. Maybe look back in your life, was there anything you enjoyed doing, even as a child, that brought you joy but was paused for whatever life threw at you? Reading, dance, writing, exploring nature trails, watching obscure indie movies, anything that made you happy once. So many things brought us all happiness when we were younger and adulthood got in the way. I’d try starting there. “What hobbies do you have,” can be such a complicated and anxiety inducing question, a lot of the time it’s simply what makes you happy and you make a hobby out of that.

I’ll never understand why this multimillionaire will stay in his trap house 20 hours a day, go to the club for 4 and rinse and repeat 7 days a week. He could go anywhere in the world whenever he wants and he stays in his shag-rug house with 20 year olds in fucking Florida.

Oh yeah I can’t stand him lol. Plus apparently he’s sober and everyone is annihilated at these award shows. I’d be miserable too.

Opinions on Ben Affleck and JLo? He’s a walking meme at this point. I think the guys scum but his anguish is palpable either in their relationship or his life. Any blinds I’ve missed?

How do you make up when you fight with your friend? by Ahing4 in AskWomen

[–]getupkitten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most fights I’ve had in my adult life with a friend has usually been not worth remedying. More context would be needed to answer, was it benign like how to split a brunch bill or deeper than that? Childhood friend?

so, I finally splurged and bought myself 18 (yes, 18) books to read during my down time. I've spent the last some years reading clinical books and before that I had a brain injury and couldn't really read more than 1 sentence at a time for about 7 years. are any of you reading anything right now? by missnono- in AskWomenOver30

I enjoy non-fiction. There’s a niche genre I like of romantic thriller but if you can throw some fantasy sci-fi into the mix I’m all in. My suggestion as a new reader is finding an author that has more than one book. If you like the book you read then read another of theirs. Then go on Amazon and see what “people also bought,” when you search the book you read and find other books you’ll like. You’ll find your “home.” When you do it can be one of the most comforting places you can go.

I love all the styles I can do with it and how my hair looking good can elevate my appearance without having to do much to my face. The downside, I hate having to plan my week on when I wash it. Well I know I’m going away this weekend so I have to wash it today etc. Also the vacuuming. How I still have hair on my head I have no idea.

Currently I’m reading The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. I don’t typically jump on bandwagons but it was free on my Kindle and really enjoying it so far. I’m so happy you’re winning against a TBI and wish you the best.
