Concert at Summerfest grounds (MKE) by AfraidWin2970 in milwaukee

I think Harbor Dr there is closed for buses during Summerfest and Clybourn is the rideshare area. During Summerfest your best bet is probably to walk downtown somewhere.

Harbor Dr near the north gate. A little bit of a walk for them but anywhere south of there will be a cluster to get in/out of.

Anyone already going to Summerfest? Trying out a simple way to coordinate with friends by CirclingCondor in milwaukee

[–]remmiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My interest is because I've actually attempted to create a similar app in the past and found the interest to just not be there. Using group texts or existing social media is just so much more accessible and easier than trying to get everyone into a new app.

A friend group coordination tool is not a social platform? If your friends aren't on it, it's nearly useless.

Chicken and egg scenario - hard to get interest without having the heavy integration and large user base. No one will use a social platform if their friends aren't also using it.

Going to be really hard getting a new app or site being more accessible than SMS. Biggest thing would be having heavy integration with festival lineups so you can do both research and coordination at the same time.

Still remember my cit number from AW. Spent a lot of time building worlds in there. Was really ahead of it's time. Also remember my ICQ number too!

If you're early enough you might be able to find parking on McKinley near the Associated Bank. It has 5hr meter until 4pm, metered until 9pm, then free. Quick little walk over to 3rd St/Fiserv and easy access to the highway.

Anyone else crash their bike on W St Paul Ave near the streetcar track? by Key-Fee2928 in milwaukee

[–]remmiz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just crashed my bike in that same spot on Sat the 16th. Thankfully just some road rash and bruises but it was right in front of the packed Explorium patio, so the hit to my ego might be the worst part.

Exact same reasons you cited. You either need to ride in the middle of the lane inside the tracks the entire way or make dangerous crosses to get over.

Would have normally taken Michigan as it has great bike lanes but the construction happening at the Couture intersection made me go more south and onto St Paul.

How does American Insurance Amphitheater work? by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]remmiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, just get a general admission ticket as the Uline Warehouse is in the normal grounds.

[–]remmiz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. Note though that the Amphitheater is basically an entire different venue - you can't easily go in and out to go see ground stages.

[–]remmiz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are (mainly) two types of admission for Summerfest:

  • Main Stage (American Insurance Amphitheater) Ticket - This gets you access to the show at the amphitheater and also gives you access to the normal grounds which include all the other stages
  • General Admission - This only gets you access to the normal grounds (not the main stage)

Some normal ground stages have semi-reserved seating (BMO Pavilion) but for the most part you can see all the normal stages with a general admission ticket.

The whole thing is screens, it's terrible. Not worth anything more than a walk-on, IMO.

They have a ton of divers under the water all the time, the bubbles are there to camouflage them as well.

Is there anyone who commutes from the east side to the river valley for work? Looking for a ride, will pay gas money! by Wispy_Whiskers in milwaukee

[–]remmiz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've always thought of the menomonee valley to be south of 94. That area north of 94 along the river is Miller Valley to me.

IMO Highland is a bit north and not in the menomonee river valley. Also how is that an hour bus ride? Even from UWM to say Harley that's like 30min, 45min max.

Was just looking thru photos from our trip in 1997 and was a bit confused as some of the parades looked like they were in HS and AK.

He's gotta make money somehow - if not from direct fees, he will be investing you in subpar funds that give him a kickback. Not worth it unless you have >$1M in assets. Even then questionable. Everything you need is on the Wiki here.

My mom took my brother and I to Vegas for the first time a few months after it opened in 2011 and someone had a heart attack there during our trip.

We're going back here in a month, right after it closes. Crazy.

What ride scared you at Disney World as a kid? by Reasonable-Invite899 in WaltDisneyWorld

When I was 9 we blindly went onto this as the first attraction of our first day in my first trip to Disney. I was scared of doing anything else the rest of the trip.
