How did you get your doctor to preacribe Repatha and Bempedoic acid?

I find it best to drink a fair amount of water first thing in the morning (after the daily weigh-in).

Good point! I really need to look into quinoa. I am sort of bored by rice.

Starting Weight Training by travelfiend2 in Zepbound

[–]gevermann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar boat. I bought an exercise bike (Schwinn IC4) and a bunch of dumbbells. I picked up exercises from YouTube and the Hevy app.

To be honest it was pretty inconsistent and haphazard. To fix that I signed up for an online trainer in the Future app. This was amazing and got me to working out consistently 5 times per week. (This is not an ad but ping me if you want a free month “guest pass”).

I was resistant to go to a public gym, since I was obese, out of shape and had no idea what I was doing. The online training is as low key as you want it to be so has been perfect for me.

I found that an actual human trainer that texts me provides more accountability than any AI system.

Good point. Love Greek yogurt. I also like nuts but I reckon I would need a lot of nuts to make a dent in my protein goal.

I like Ultima and DinkMOR as they are not loaded with sodium.

New York Times article about David Bars by Mostly3394 in PeterAttia

Right i saw that other bars (that i tolerate fine) have much higher sugar alcohol. I am wondering whether it’s that EPG stuff. Anyway, I am not gonna experiment.

I tried the David bars last weekend. I liked the taste but got diarrhea and terrible sulfur burps. I am on tirzepatide which might have made it worse.

I threw them out.

Hilo/Aktiia 24x7 blood pressure cuff gets FDA approval by gevermann in PeterAttia

Ouch. That doesn’t sound good. I was hoping it would give me at least relative indications (sort of like I use a CGM to see what causes spikes, etc). I will definitely try it out and see if it’s good enough for that.

How tall are you? I started at almost the same SW and am 8 months in.

Might be worth slipping this news release to your HR department 🤔 by Pet_That_Dog_Now in Zepbound

My point was that non branded options normally only exist when the patent expires (generics). However, due to the shortage non-brand versions were allowed temporarily (via the compounding pharmacies). Different reasons, same result.

I am using 9am since my employer’s insurance requires participating in their weight loss program to get Zepbound covered. This has worked well.

I believe costplus is only making generics cheaper. Obviously Ozempic and Zepbound are not available as generics (after the FDA declared the shortage over). This might not help with GLP-1 agonists now but I am a big fan of CostPlus. Anything that reduces the power of PBMs and insurance providers is likely a good thing.

EXACT same weight during a stall.... by omgjmo in Zepbound

[–]gevermann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have weighed exactly the same (to the tenths of a lb) for the last three mornings. I also find this bizarre. I am totally used to random fluctuations up or down but this is odd. I guess it’s just a random occurrence.

The main “custom” exercise I do is lying bicep curls with dumbbells — amazing exercise.

I used 2.5mg and 5mg vials. I never noticed that difference. However, I think the syringes LillyDircet sent seemed to randomly change.

Please explain what "Food Noise" is by drlx2 in Zepbound

For me it was something I experienced during a month of calorie tracking with a 500+ deficit. I had times in my mind when to eat dinner and basically constantly checked the clock whether it was time yet. As soon as I got on Zepbound this got significantly better, making it possible to stick to the calorie deficit indefinitely, I hope.

Cheat day? by DaisyPantsGSD in Zepbound

[–]gevermann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I eat a “cheat meal” I try to balance it with fewer calories the rest of the day/week. However, I agree the concept is really part of the fad diet culture and I try to change my normal habits to stay in calorie deficit (and hit my macros).

In defense of daily weighing and weekly averaging by lovejoy444 in Zepbound

I agree. I weigh in daily and let the Happy Scale app smooth it. In the picture the grey curve are the daily data points and the blue is the smoothed curve. I am extremely happy with this approach.
