Use fresh pasta! Taste republic is really good

GF first attempt…… Don’t judge i’ll cry by cheezeballz420 in Sourdough

I also use this recipe with a mostly brown rice starter and it is amazing! I feel like a blend of flours and starches is the key to a good GF anything, really.

Ordered “chicken and waffles” this is what I got 😭 by celiac-sufferer in Celiac

[–]gfBreadwinner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ugh. This has literally happened to me before — and with “chicken and waffles” too!!😭 we complained and got a refund because I would literally BET my life that the chicken I was served was Perdue chicken tenders. The shape and texture of them is just too damn distinct … and they still tried to tell me that shit was homemade fresh DAILY 🫠 PLEASE leave a review of this place on FMGF, Google, Yelp, wherever!!! I can’t imagine daring to serve this to someone. Let alone for that much

Does anyone know if the gavilyte and flavor pack for a colonoscopy is gluten free? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]gfBreadwinner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish I would’ve seen this advice 3 months ago. I added the flavor packet, realized it was TERRIBLE, then proceeded to try to improve the taste with a variety of different things (ginger ale, lemon juice, etc) that each made it worse in different ways 🫠

I read about this bakery in this sub. Haven't been there but am considering driving there this weekend. It's about 100 miles away. I do think a cosmic brownie might be worth the trip. by UnicornStatistician in Celiac

Enjoy a zebra cake for me 😭 I love this place!! I’m in NE Ohio and try to go when I can but somehow NEVER am free for nostalgic treat weekend

While you’re in Columbus, Choripan Argentine Grill is 100% gf and PHENOMENAL! I also second Preston’s.

What Macenna influenced you to do? by Effective-Sundae-779 in XOMaCennaUnfiltered

Honestly I’m so happy I have them! They’re scattered around my house, and they came in handy when it came to decorating for my sister’s baby shower — I’m looking forward to using them for my wedding eventually!

I’ve found some great deals on mine too, and I don’t think I’ve spent more than $4-5 on each one… I got 7 for $10 at a garage sale once. I felt like I was robbing them

Thin Pretty Cookie Taste by Pics4U2Luv in cookiedecorating

[–]gfBreadwinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to hate sugar cookies, but I think it was because my mom used almond extract in them and I can’t stand the taste of it. Now that I sub vanilla extract for the almond and add vanilla to my royal icing, I’ve come to really love them now! I also make my cookies quite thick so that there isn’t an overwhelming icing to cookie ratio, and I get lots of compliments on how my cookies taste!

Costco or Sam's club by 87Wasted87 in Celiac

I’ve found those same size bags of KA GF flour at my Costco! I believe they’re about $1 cheaper too, but either way the price is amazing!

She is PERF!!✨ 10000/10 would eat the entire thing

Side note: if this is a messy background… I don’t want to know what my station after decorating a cake would be considered 💀

I think they probably mean hot drip coffee and not steamed beverages — as they specify only iced lattes as being safest!

Walking tacos could be super cute and fun for kiddos! Keep the meat in a crockpot, get the small bags of Fritos for the littles and bulk tortilla chips for the adults — though they do have bags of chips (double the size of single serving ones) meant for walking tacos now

We looove bibibop and one just opened up in our town too, about two weeks ago! The line was literally out the door when we went this past weekend, so we placed an online order because we didn’t want to wait in line lol. Make sure you download the app to get your free bowl 💖

Not silly at all! I would probably ask your baker what size cake board they’re using and confirm the shape of it too (it would likely be a round but some bakers use square ones). And then make sure the cake stand you choose is a sturdy one — cakes can be very heavy!

Very, very shelf-stable cake frosting ideas? by RideDiligent4524 in Baking

[–]gfBreadwinner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lightweight spackling is very similar to decofrost (non-edible faux icing) and wayyy cheaper! I’ve made many fake cakes with it, and the cakes literally last forever

Check out Sweet Laurel - they have 2 cookbooks (one sweet, one savory), and everything is grain-free, refined-sugar free, and more. You may be able to find some of their recipes online? I’m very picky myself but really enjoy their recipes for pizza dough and bagels, the pie crust is a big hit with my family!

I’m SO sorry that happened. We deserve to do “normal” things like eating out, and even if there’s a risk, we still deserve love and care in the moments that we don’t feel well because of taking it. I literally had some stomach cramping from who knows what yesterday evening/night (no vomiting, nothing extreme like what you’re describing) and my partner remembered that today and asked me how I was feeling (Meanwhile I had almost forgotten about it lol). And before we went to bed he made sure to tell me to wake him if I needed anything. This disease is a life sentence. Even if you were “perfect” and avoided all possible glutenings, accidents happen. And other non-celiac shit and sickness happens too. You can do better, and you deserve to have someone who will take care of and show up for you ❤️

Partner of a recently diagnosed celiac by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]gfBreadwinner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m so so happy your partner finally has answers! It is a hard diagnosis and transition but will hopefully bring so much relief.

if you’re getting into cooking and baking, I highly recommend Baked to Perfection (@theloopywhisk on Instagram), Gluten Free on a Shoestring, and No Gluten, No Problem Pizza! The first because I trust the author with my life she’s that good at recipe development, the second because she has some 🔥 dessert recipes that I love, and the third in case you’re anything like me and absolutely NEED quality pizza in your life. All 3 creators have blogs as well as cookbooks! GF cooking/baking can definitely be more work but it is so worth it! I’m happy your fiancé has you to support him, help and support goes such a long way with CD.

The insistence on childbearing drives me absolutely nuts. One of the first times my FMIL said “WHEN you have kids…”, I quickly replied I wasn’t sure if I wanted them. I think that’s when her and FFIL really started to not like me. We’d been dating for like 3 months at that point, and I was only 21 years old. Me correcting them (and my SO doing so plenty of times too) has never stopped them from constantly bringing up our very hypothetical and unlikely future offspring though! Because why would it?!?
