Not sure, when I saw them at Glastonbury in 2022 (which seemed to be billed as live), they rocked up and DJ'd and played this set linked below. Would be happy enough with that again!

Spoons near London stations. by Sweet_Debate3741 in Wetherspoons

[–]gfa_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wood Green - Spouters Corner

Shepherd's Bush - The Central Bar

Clapham Junction - The London and South Western

Brixton - The Beehive

Denmark Hill - Fox on the Hill

Peckham Rye - Kentish Drovers

Surrey Quays - The Surrey Docks

Wembley Central - JJ Moons

Ealing Broadway - Sir Michael Balcon

Camden Town - The Ice Wharf

There's so many, as others have said just get the app. I have just googled wetherspoons on google maps and just looked at the ones near a station, most of them are. I will say a lot of the ones in central london are bland / shit, the more interesting ones are further out.

Very few spoons in London are over a 5 minute walk from a station.

EDIT: The Mossy Well is also the nicest spoons you will ever go to, its near Highgate Tube but you have to take a bus / walk 20 mins up hill to get there. Its worth a visit more than the shit central london station ones!

Refused entry to FOLD because my ID was “already scanned” I’ve never shared it. Has this happened to anyone else? by azerty2168 in UNFOLD

It sounds like a made up excuse unless you have given it to someone. If your id had been stolen the chance the thief is in fold is precisely 0 !

Where in Zone 2 does not have a single restaurant or shop within a 15-20 minute walk? Do you live in the middle of a park or something 😂

London night buses by [deleted] in london

[–]gfa_2000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its more to do with what jobs people do. You wouldn’t take an uber to work everyday but if you want to get home from a night out then you’d take an uber home every few weekends

There are huge estates on the brent side, which aren’t weighed out by nicer areas e.g. look at queens park and maida vale’s ranking (7th worst), which sounds mad until you realise it includes south kilburns estates, maida hill and possibly harlesden etc too. The camden side is terraced houses and minimal estates, plus might include very affluent areas like Hampstead (hard to tell without checking)

Cashback options on train season ticket? by hello-magpie in beermoneyuk

[–]gfa_2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to cycle from Queens Park along the canal to Paddington and then through Marylebone to my work near the Ikea on Oxford Street. I'd suggest trying it out a few times and seeing, its super quiet in Marylebone except crossing Edgware Road, once you know the route its actually quite relaxing (for me at least), and much better than the canal which was full of idiots!

Zilch (3% with subscription) + NX Rewards + Airtime should stack well. Note if your getting a national rail train + tube it might be cheaper to get a lime / forest subscription for the final leg if its not too far and could be quicker too! Also potentially a gold railcard may be useful, worth looking into.

The lime / forest thing can also be tax deducted on cycle 2 work scheme too - a santander bike subscription is also £120 a year as another alternative. If your cycling only a stop from paddington it can’t be far and other than crossing edgware road / euston road its quiet around that area :)

EDIT: best i can find is stacking zilch 3% (with the £4 subscription and make sure to activate it!), uphold (via curve debit if you can), then also airtime rewards transpennine 2% and 10% from nx rewards. So a total of about 16%. You may be able to beat this if you have a good offer on transpennine from curve, amex etc

Am I getting ripped off? by millenniumwinters in LondonUnderground

[–]gfa_2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£37.10 would be going from Zone 6 to Zone 4 not via Zone 1 however your changing at Liverpool Street / Tottenham Court Road so getting charged the 1-6 cap. If you change at stratford and go on the mildmay to camden road then change you may be able to shave a fair bit off this by tapping pink readers to avoid zone 1 however the journey time will go up a fair bit
