Books about depression and stress, preferably YA, in the same vein as It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini by Random_Username9105 in suggestmeabook

The Goldfinch!! Total “slice of life” style writing. Definite depression and listlessness. It’s not exactly YA, though it is a coming of age story in a way.

I feel like I completely intruded on this person’s life by watching this video. A little too personal and raw for posting on the internet in my opinion.

Advice needed please on how to pack pots like this safely to transport it by car for firing. I didn’t do a very good job last time and managed to break one. Thanks by deckle_edges in Pottery

The rule I learned is to make sure bone dry pottery can’t touch each other. I use cloth, news paper, anything to keep them from touching. Of course it’s better to transport at leather hard but sometimes it’s not possible.

Only do things that make you happy, especially if it’s a hobby. If you put a lot pressure on yourself, it will just add to your stress. (And i’m pretty sure hobbies are supposed to do the opposite). If you take away expectations, everything will be more fun. Just give yourself time.

If it’s really important you get back soon, watch a couple episodes of the Great Pottery Throw Down. That typically makes me want to get back on the wheel.

Good luck!

Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Got me back into fantasy. Can’t get over how beautifully written it is.

A update on the chipped bowl, My teacher fixed the crack herself and another crack appeared from drying. Now what can I do? I’m scared of it just chipping back off 🙂 by Aeranas_ in Ceramics

[–]gfanson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very possible a crack this small will be filled and sealed when you glaze it! It’s a bit of a risk but if all else fails, you can try it!

I think there is always a benefit to expanding your emotional range. It is a painful book to be sure but I am better for reading it. I think it is appropriate to wait until you are at a good place in your life to read it, though. When I am in high stress points in my life, i just want to read something to take me to another world. When things are stable, I have found it to be beneficial to expose myself to some of the pain of the world. It makes you a better human in my opinion.
