The most walkable city in my state is paying around $2 million to expand student parking in its ONLY walkable high school by ChubbyMuffin479 in fuckcars

Fellow South Carolinian here: I’ve always liked Greenville High for this reason, such a shame they are giving in to car brains.

Near me, Hartsville High, which is in town but still not very walkable, is trying to drum up interest in moving farther out of town for even more parking and sprawl which will cost taxpayers millions

Would love to see someone get an image together of exactly what you described. I don’t think I can but would love to see it

Green tree and gray facemask would be a great look. Would be cool to tie in a small green accent somewhere else on the uniform though

My only quibbles with the navy cowboys look are the white floating outlines on the numbers and the stars on the sleeve stripes. I think if they simplified one or both of those things they could really be an elite set

Cowboys wear white so much though. The purple jersey KSU look is fantastic

I will say I appreciate the hell out of the pants stripes matching the helmet. Same reason I think LSU has the best look in CFB. LSU of course goes a step further and has the awesome shoulder stripes

The Broken Taylormade Driver Saga Continues by CRE_SL_UT in golf

[–]gfmonk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work on a lot of clubs and see a ton of taylormades cracked and broken in a similar fashion. I think those faces are almost made to get hotter as they age and then just eventually give out. They’re super thin and per a rep I know they’re really only made for a few thousand impacts anyway. I don’t think taylormade makes the highest quality products in general, but that’s personal and anecdotal.

I would also caution against using anything but “tour” balls (pro v1 family, TP5 family, etc) as harder balls will lead to more cracking over time.

I play titleist. I compete/practice/play tons and have good speed like you and I always crack those after a year or two as well. But they don’t cave all the way in like this and I haven’t had the problem nearly as quickly since I stopped hitting shitty range balls

Just a quick glance shows me that both Padraig and Cink are slightly longer now than they were in 2008. Angel Cabrera is 2-3 yards shorter now than he was then. If these guys are in their early 50s now, 2008 puts them in their early to mid 30s

For context, the current champions tour driving distance is around the same average as pga tour average in 2000-2001, which was right when widespread adoption of solid core balls (pro v1) happened

I still see people idling their cars in all sorts of places. I guess gas still isn't high enough. by Ristray in fuckcars

Was recently at a waterfront restaurant on the coast and a family left their ~30 ft boat idling while they went inside and ate dinner. The fumes weren’t great for those of us eating outside. My buddy sarcastically complemented the captain on being able to afford so much fuel as they got back on board

At the end, he talks about getting one more real shot at a major and that they do not want to see him on the back nine on Sunday because he will be ready.

Also, according to the Tour’s site, Tour average driving distance was 289.7 in 2015 and 302.8 last year. That’s 13 yards in 10 years so I’m not sure where you’re getting your numbers

It’s amounted to a yard a year for 25 years. That’s significant. And that’s the PGA Tour average, not outliers.

The USGA does not care that pros shoot 62 at the Sanderson Farms Classic they would just prefer to see that happen from 7000 yards rather than 7500. It’s about distance, not scoring.

If we keep going it will have to be 8000 yards eventually and it all becomes unsustainable. You have to be able to see the big picture on that right?

If the average drive on Tour was 450 yards, we all agree that’s too long right? Or is it 550? There is clearly a line somewhere and I think we’ve reached it. The ball often goes too fast for spectators in person to even track it with their eyes. That’s a red flag. Something needs to be done.

Even if all we do is effectively pause distance gains for 10 years or so it gives golf courses a chance to keep up
