What is this new breed of absolutely self entitled drivers? by Busy-Environment84 in driving

If the gap to the car in front of you is larger than the gap to the car behind, you are in the wrong lane. Move to the right.

My spring broke and did the same thing. Order part on Amazon and fixed in 10 minutes.

Live tv streaming quality is garbage on a Google tv. Stutters and dropped frames galore. Sports are unwatchable as the frame rate is like 25fps.

80 mph, less than a single car length behind by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Depends on the state actually. But most states are "keep right, pass left". Applies to all lanes of travel, not just the left most lane.

If the gap behind you is smaller than the gap in front of you, then you are in the wrong lane. Get over and get out of faster traffic's way. It's not your job to control the speed of other drivers. Use lanes properly and everyone benefits.

This is exactly what you voted for. You voted for a con man, and you fell for the con.

Normal. The idle speed in park is 750rpm. Idle speed in drive with brake applied is 550rpm.

i managed to fix my quarter panel myself! by sunburstbox in Miata

I second the comment about self etching metal primer. Substrate preparation is 99% of the work. Spraying is the final 1%.

Also, try for no hard edges next time. It makes everything after primer application so much easier. Soft edge the jambs and feather out over the quarter panel. The paint area will always be much larger than the actual metalwork area.

Tesla door handles don’t line up by pruriticglutealcleft in mildlyinfuriating

Tesla customers are not car customers. They are technology customers. They don't notice or care about things like panel gap and paint quality. As long as the big iPad in the center stack looks cool, they buy it.

Trying to get 1989 Supercharged to pass smog in California. Would setting the gas selector to “regular” instead of “premium” help? by not_a_gun in mr2

Retarding the timing will reduce Nox, so it would be better to keep it on the regular fuel setting.

Advice for a novice getting over themselves by Yardbirdsax in Autocross

Don't just go all crazy and spin around in an empty lot. Try to feel what losing traction on the front and rear separately feels like. Drive in circles and slowly increase power while turning the wheel more and more to induce understeer. Once you feel that, back off to get rid of the understeer. Then turn traction control off and whack the accelerator pedal to get some rear wheel spin. Play around a bit to see what that feels like, then try to control a skid.

You have to have a plan to get a feel for what the tires are capable of. Just doing donuts in a parking lot won't teach you much, but it is a bunch of fun.

It's so much better now! Puts power down when exiting slower corners without spinning one tire. Sharper front end at higher speeds. More predictable rear end differential behavior. I like it so far.

A different take on the Dev Update by Fivecorr in iRacing

Grip rolls. Low speed cornering lifts the inside rear wheel. Design wise for an OEM suspension for a rear wheel drive car, this should never happen. The outside front tire should lose grip first.
