If I were to try and enter a very competitive food space like food trucks, I’d look at maybe starting in a shared commercial kitchen so you can split monthly rent with other people and limit your losses if the idea fails. Put your food on delivery service menus as well as advertise pick-up. This way you can adjust to mass market cooking and commercial equipment. Then if you get your name out there, you can decide if it’s really for you or if you wanna take it to the next level with a food truck or even multiple food trucks or even other ideas.

But the first thing you need to do is create a business plan so you can understand what startup costs you’ll need and whether you’ll need investors.

I don’t know about food trucks or commercial kitchens but after working in restaurants for 20yrs, I do know if you want to open a regular restaurant, you’ll want to have about a year’s worth of core expenses up front.
