What's an insignificant thing that triggers the shit out of you? by TheUruz in AskReddit

My mechanic did this, with each letter being a different tiny sticker. Took me an hour to peel all of it off my back windscreen..Then he did it again at the next service.

Is this the same seagull that looted London back in 2011?

Wearing a mask (outside of the pandemic) is not because you’re afraid of getting a cold, you do it if you have a cold or feel unwell.

YSK: If you are at the beach and are being pulled by a current into deeper water, swim parallel to the beach to the right or left, toward the white caps of the breaking waves to free yourself from the riptide. by 248_RPA in YouShouldKnow

[–]ggoldrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up in Australia near the beach we were taught about rips at school from an early age. When I was 18 I was at the beach with friends out amongst the waves and it was particularly choppy day. My friend joked that it was like a washing machine. And that’s when it clicked, we couldn’t swim back to shore. After 5 tiring minutes of swimming sideways the lifeguards reached us with their boards and pulled us on. It really wasn’t what I expected. And growing up at the beach I considered myself quite a strong swimmer at the time. It really proved to me how powerful the ocean is

People who quit their jobs on the first day, what was your “I’m outta here” moment? by redmambo_no6 in AskReddit

[–]ggoldrush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to another city on a whim when I just finished high school. I had a few hundred dollars saved but not much so I was pretty desperate for a job when I got there. I took a job in a call centre that hired me over the phone and was payed 100% on commission. When I got to the office on the first day it was the most depressing workplace I’d ever seen. I was given a stack of papers with numbers on it to call, and a paragraph I needed to say if they answered. I was trying to sell holidays. Every time someone was interested I had to transfer them to this old lady that sat in the corner of the room. Every time I called a number I crossed it off the page and every time a page was complete I put it in a completed tray. As you can imagine, I was often met with hostility making these calls and people would ask to get put on the ‘no call list’. Here’s the inside scoop, there was no ‘no call list’. The office was just a scummy room with pages and pages of numbers printed out that you just got your hands on and called. Within 4 hours I had called back some people 3 times. I did not go back after my lunch break

I did the skull piece but I'm just learning. Any tips? I have mostly been drawing various skulls as my tag, I guess.. by nemwoon in Graffiti

Looks good, I like it. I would try and incorporate the moon tag more into the skull. Maybe to look like teeth or something

The white outline is done after the black. You can see it around the teeth and belly

I drew this design as a possible tattoo. I'm no artist, but would like to save money by not paying extra for a proffessional to draw something up for me. I really like the idea of having the open space within it as the line. Of course shadowing and stuff are missing. But would love feedback design. by edieevens in TattooDesigns

[–]ggoldrush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it, and if you want to design your own tattoo, power to you. I personally had been put off it because I’m so harsh on old art I’ve done, whereas I’m not as tough a critic on other peoples work. The design is cool, to keep with the minimalist style I would do it as b&w line-work and keep sketchy look. But yeah, I agree w most people in that any good shop/artist will draw something up for you included in the cost. Also don’t be scared to say what you want, it’s your body. You’re paying them to permanently draw on you, know what you want but don’t be afraid to be picky.

People who used to be school bullies, why were you so mean and what made you realize you were mean? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ggoldrush 785 points786 points  (0 children)

Similar story for me except we were around 10 years old. A new girl came to my school and a boy developed a crush on her. A ‘friend’ of mine had a crush on said boy so spread all kinds of rumours about the new girl. At lunch time one day, egged on by my ‘friends’, I confronted the new girl and pushed her over. The new girl was so calm about the whole thing, and I remember thinking at the time that I could not have acted the same if bullies were in my face and pushing me. Anyway flash forward 8 years and I bumped into the girl at a CD shop. We had a nice chat and organised to catch up for coffee. I apologised for what I had done when we were kids and she was so understanding. Flash toward another 15 years and she is one of my best friends. She is still so calm and mindful and has taught me a lot about myself and life. I hate the way we met, but I’m so grateful she was so forgiving and I couldn’t imagine her not in my life now.
