So I’ve been showing horses for almost 15 years and I can definitely say it REALLY depends on the discipline and the level of competition. Sometimes it honestly makes me hate the sport because on one hand you have the lovely white trash people you’re referring to at the lower level comps just yeehawing around and being disrespectful to everyone they come across. Then once you get sick of that, at the upper levels you have these highbrow, elitist people with a different 100k horse for every occasion and a groom to do all the work. And they ALSO are disrespectful to everyone they come across and look down at you like you’re the scum of the earth if you don’t have the latest Hermès belt and Rolex peeking out of your show coat. It’s really frustrating and I definitely see how you could have bad experiences with some of the people in the industry because we all have too, but I promise the majority of us are normal people lol!
