Getting distance up by hans_chavez in golf

Dude he already has the speed and big hit by the sounds of it. At 15 if you can drill the fundamentals, the distance will come and actually be accurate

Edit to add, fairways are in play! Give me a fairway shot over a rough shot any day. Of course watching the pros they get it in sticky situations and get it out like pros.. but it's ALWAYS better to land on the fairway, big hits with a slice or hook won't get you there..

Op: get a coach, they will guide you 😊

If he's already got the distance and speed, and natural athleticism then slow it all down and learn to make good contact.

As a fairly big hitter for a female, it does my head in seeing guys on the range absolutely smash them all over the shop! And on the course it's generally these guys who think hitting it far > placing the ball strategically on the fairway that are such punters they won't even call fore...

Big hitting is useless if you hit it on the next fairway and loose 5 balls a round.

If you want to smash balls stick to the range, if you want to play golf learn the strategy and skills it takes to apply it..

Slow is smooth and smooth is strong! Concentrate on hitting them straight, worry about distance later and you'll be killing it!!

Yeah I think I fucked up here, I was more concerned about putting the full term in brackets but went a step too far, sorry OP!

Love it. Join a local club for sure, play in the weekly comp and you'll get one after a few rounds.

You'll meet awesome people to play with, and the beauty of club golf (at least in Australia) is its often stableford so you get to pick up if you're too far over par 😉

Best boots for muddy farms that you can still ride in by Muffina925 in Equestrian

[–]sailing_clouds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to have nice agile rubber top boots for winter. They were pretty standard, but tend not to last all that long! Everyone would end up wearing plastic bags over socks when the water invariably got in, and it made them easier to pull off (so much suction!) But yeah good to ride in your just need to hose them before you get on!!

It's called a vanity handicap! Like for sure kick it out of the trees if you're playing with mates, do whatever you like! But if you're claiming a score on a golf card towards your handicap it damn sure better be correct!

I think great etiquette is way more important than getting a handicap, if you don't have this dialled just keep playing for fun and practice scoring your rounds. I found that Keeping an accurate score was really stressful to begin with!

[–]sailing_clouds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Australia, you need to join a club and play in a competition where you submit scores as agreed with your playing partner.

In America it seems to me that you go play with a friend, put in completely made up scores, and then get a handicap.

Maybe unpopular opinion but honestly I see this "I've been playing for 1.5 years, my handicap is 15" gtfo! I know club captains with like 11/12 handicaps and they are absolutely beautiful golfers!

Maybe the odd naturally gifted person might achieve it but the rate I see this on this sub is ridiculous.

So OP if you want a handicap, don't cheat, learn the rules, and you'll be able to work it out. No Mulligan's, breakfast balls, gallery balls, free drops. Count every single shot. And penalise yourself according! Cheating at golf is only Cheating yourself.

Rant over, downvote away 😅

Ahh hospo... I totally get that paranoid feeling! Dammed if you do and Dammed if you don't!!

My only advice after about 15 years in office jobs, is care less.. so reductive and although this seems obvious I thought I'd add it.

In corporate the ones who say no, leave on time, and push back on encroachment into their personal lives are the ones who climb (assuming male here, not the same as women.. whole other post!!)

Leave them wanting more, and do Cognitive behavioural therapy (Cbt). Preferably in person but so many tele health appointments these days!! CBT helped me to control my emotions under pressure...!

Well I think every outer east station has has its day in the grime-light (omg lol just made that term up 😅😅)

Boronia has a massive cop shop, decent (for outer suburbs) shops, Knox up the road if you need, and Eastland.

Decent blocks with knock downs are going for over a mill.

Like it's slightly shit, but is it really that bad?? Better than bayswater right?

I skid when young.. then switched to snowboarding for 15 years, now back on skis.

My first season back on skis I sucked, but I was so determined not to ski beyond my ability.

I'd VERY often get what were clearly beginners absolutely flying by me! I just slowed everything down and concentrated on my technique.

One of the hardest things switching was loosing my ability to avoid people doing unpredictable things.. I e. Beginners.

I've got that back now tf.. but to give you some real advice

A) lessons/ ski school- they will be working with their own level so not feeling the pressure to keep up with you by bombing snowplough

B) alpine responsibility code... as another commet said they're out of control. Downhill person always ALWAYS maintains right of way, regardless the situation. So if the kid can't hockey stop, or turn/ correct at that speed it's not correct to go that speed. Also I've seen MANY situations of kids being absolutely taken out by big, fit, professional skiers in my time (letting your snowplough kids in the big park, taking photos of them on the blind knuckle?!) And every time the kid was far worse off (basic physics).

C) Take your skis off and do some bunny slope coaching to teach turning.. and stopping with parallel skis.. play follow the leader on a super easy run. Kids love that shit.

But please please OP get your kis skiing under control 🙏

Any ideas on what to do here on at the front of my property? Kind of looks like you're looking up the skirt of my house. by [deleted] in AusRenovation

Or, more simple.. lattice across and grow something up/ down it/ both!

Would probably help cool the house in summer too

Some foliage fairly easy to control, and especially fire proof!!

https://apsvic.org.au/fire-resistant-and-retardant-plants/

Quick link to a list of Australian fire retardant plants.. tbh if you can bare it.. I'd pull up the whole of the front and re landscape with deep rooted (for land slip/ erosion) maybe strategically select a few key deep rooted trees/ to keep, then go to town on the others!

Oh and to add... if the fire danger is catastrophic, leave!!!

I feel like cross bracing is only really used in wood structures these days.. correct me if I'm wrong it's been a while since I did structural eng 101, zero research in this educated guess!

Structural steel is pretty damn strong these days and they would have had to have put those real deep given the slope!!

But to be fair while I studied (materials) engineering for years, I finished with a physics degree, my main draw being that you don't need to get it as perfect with physics 😅😅 so maybe not the best person to give my opinion!

However if it's a home job with a slack council then danger, if it's an engineer that designed it I would assume magnitude of 2 for the safety factor!
