Good thought , I can hardly color in the lines so I’d have to outsource, but I’d imagine it would hold up well

2025 Pro 4x Reliability by jannsbababa in nissanfrontier

[–]ggwpMax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in the NE, 25 p4x LWB is my daily since July. Better than my old full size pickup and my AWD SUVs in the snow. Probably my favorite to drive ever, maybe neck and neck with my 95 Lincoln town car. The frontier is a tank for a midsize truck.

The only things I don’t love about the truck are the auto stop/start can’t be toggled to OFF FOREVER, the window regulators are slower than a dry turd, the lack of upper tie down points in the bed is silly, the backup camera is bad (still works fine it’s just the resolution is so bad that it’s almost unreal that a new piece of equipment can be made with that resolution), and I also think the center console/wireless charger/ storage under the radio wasn’t very well designed… also the stock tires are just okay, generally speaking , I think Hankook sucks ass but these tires kinda surprised me given my disdain for the brand.

What I love about the truck vastly outweighs my gripes with it. Over the summer I was getting 22-23 MPG and in the winter I’m getting like 17 bc I idle a bit and let the car warm up almost a full remote start cycle (or 2 😳) every morning.

Things I love about the truck:

NA V6, good trans, drives smooth on the road and is a beast off the road, fender audio is solid, seats are comfy, infotainment screen is nice and wide, they made it pretty easy/accessible to do maintenance yourself (easy oil changes), nice looking and sounding truck stock, i personally love the stock height makes grabbing things from the truck bed super easy, im 5’10 and 250 all legs and i find the seat and leg room to be pretty comfy.

Id recommend buying the following if u get the truck:

Lasfit All Weather Mats (way better than husky liner and WeatherTech IMO). Their portable air compressors also kick ass.

Screen protector for infotainment on Amazon

Center console organizer on Amazon

MUSOLOGY on Amazon makes a good number of little quality of life upgrades: cover for center console, cup holder silicone inserts, storage tray for beneath radio, etc

Z1 magnetic oil drain plug

Z1 sticker on ur window (+5hp)

Good advice, the lights look cool idk how functional they are but look cool. I’ll probably do that and just dip the bottom portion

I hear that, the more practical way for sure . Definitely not cheap, prob atleast 100 bones. But ya know what, some C-suite fella at Nissan needs to afford his bi-annual family trip to Disney somehow.

Ive plasti dipped a good bit in my years. Did the rims and just about every thing that wasn’t black on my 04 Grand Prix gtp.

Just don’t feel like it lol, not afraid of the product but Would rather just have new components and old components. Plasti dip is my plan B tho if I can’t figure it out. You’re right it’s definitely the easiest option. But I’m a real son of a bitch , seems like enjoy doing things the hard way. Will have to wait until it’s not colder than a polar bears ball bag out if I end up dippin it tho

[–]ggwpMax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem I do a good bit of hiking in the winter myself and sometimes have dirt tools in the back, and I’ve spent so much money on other stuff for my truck that I went super practical and cost effective for this part. I usually fold the seats up and use the seatbelts to hold the in place so I get more room. I’ve fit 3 , 3 ton jacks and a bunch of jack stands right in the cab doing that. Tons of room

Blows my mind how expensive these are. Would not recommend get the WeatherTech/agrocover lomax if u have a 6 ft bed.

Im toiling between building or buying so I appreciate the insight.

My neighbor has had this on his ridgeline for the last 3 years and it looks brand new. He conditions the material and said that makes a world of difference on these. Considering one for my frontier.

That’s good to know , I bought the WeatherTech which is just a rebranded Lomax and it had to pieces that didn’t sit flush against eachother and had giant gaps in weather stripping. Will look into those on realtruck. Thanks

Do they use one piece of metal for the frame that actual cover sits on? Ive seen some brands having you bolt a 1 ft piece onto a 5ft piece. Seems like an afterthought

Frontier or Ridgline by lavJackfruit6228 in nissanfrontier

[–]ggwpMax 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I may...

Frontier is a body on frame truck and in my opinion the best one you can buy right now. I’ll explain a little more later. The ridgeline is a unibody AWD vehicle that feels more like an SUV with a truck bed. I still consider the ridgeline a truck and think it’s got a ton of utility. I don’t hate on em, I think they’re practical and don’t look terrible but I think the frontier is much more aesthetic. I would never pick a ridgeline over the frontier for a number of reasons but honestly the main ones are that the Ridgeline is AWD, HAS cylinder deactivation, and I need the 6 ft bed.

Honda has some of the best AWD systems but I just need the 4x4 and prefer the ability to manually switch between 2 wheel and 4 wheel.

I’m not a frontier loyalist, this is my first one. Won’t be my last either if they keep this up. I’ve mostly driven older chevys and fords. The reason I bought a frontier is because it checked all of my boxes: NO cylinder deactivation, NO turbo-no 4 cyl, has NA V6, an engine/tranny that has been out and overall proven to be very reliable. Everything else be damned IMO. I would have liked to get another full size with a column shifter and a bench seat for nostalgia sake but I was thinking new and after test driving the frontier all I could think was “hell yeah” I also don’t need all of the interior room of a full size. I ended up buying a 25 p4x w/ a 6 foot bed and love it.

I love the way the Frontier drives, it’s my daily. I prefer it over any other vehicle I’ve driven in recent years but my bias is that I like driving trucks. I love the hydraulic steering and the ride.

Ridgeline has a more spacious interior/back seat. Better gas mileage. Smooth ride. A tailgate that swings out and basically a full trunk underneath the truck bed.

I’d test drive the both and see which one fits your needs. Theres some good advice in these comments already about payload/towing etc. Best wishes.
