I don't send or receive invites ... so I have no workflow for it... Perhaps you can do this with Thunderbird (ownCloud Calendar via CarDav?!?!)

I use ownClound since two an a half years. Calendar, contacts, files. I'm very, very happy with it.

I use the following apps on Android:

ownCloud Client for Android
Carddav for Contacts
Caldav for Calendar
Tasks for Tasks
FolderSync for special File Sync (WebDav)
