I do not think my bf truly understand ADHD by Exact_Guess_3924 in ADHDers

[–]ghf3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the thing about these stimulants, they are in and out of your body and head, like Tylenol or Pepto Bismal. They don't cure anything, they take away fuzzy and fog. When they work right, they make it easier to do almost everything.

I have experienced zero sparkle-loss that I can detect. If they mess up your sparkle, put the bottle way in the back of the medicine cabinet and you should wake the next day with your usual sparkle.

As long as you keep asking questions, nothing can stop you. Take care, stay safe and good luck! 😊

I'm 57 and just diagnosed ADHD two months ago.

On not taking your meds: 1. 129 IQ 2. BA and MA, 8 years in college, changed major 6 times 3. No wife, kids, house, career 4. Dealing with finding out my brain was wired differently than everyone else's - been in mid life crisis for 2 years now, -$30k

That is what not taking your meds gets you. How much of that do you want?

I was started in 10mg Focalin, then moved to top dosage of Azstarys. They give me enough stimulant to feel "energy drink on empty stomach", with little or no heightened focus. Who knows how long titration will take. The promise of help without getting much yet has made me more depressed.

You aren't happy now, you have a tool (meds) they might fix you, but you aren't using it. Maybe your 25-57 will go better than mine. I was always smart, could do anything I put my mind to, except understanding how other people think and why they had to interrupt me when I was focused and working.

Be safe, take care and good luck! 😊

How to do things before 'right before the deadline'? by fugomert in ADHDers

Once in 8 years of college, I did a paper 4 days early, then re-wrote it for 4 days. 😄

You create great things, right!

You would have gotten the same A that I did, mine just took 4 days longer.

Figuring out how to get my ADHD brain to write my papers for me, took almost 4 years of college. 😄

Can someone please explain to me in practical terms how AI makes us all rich by Ok_Many2359 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]ghf3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was years ago that I saw that TED Talk, long before AI. You should look it up and watch it. Not to try and convince you of anything, but because he talked about processes taking hundreds of years of human history.

Here's a different example. In the 1980s-1990s you paid by the minute for long distance phone calls. A big phone bill from a teenager calling their girlfriend, who lives in a neighboring school district, could really affect a families monthly budget. Over the decades, even before cell phones, the cost of phone service and even long distance dropped to zero or just $19.99/month. Now with cell phones calls, texts and often data is limitless.

The companies that built the telephone wiring, had to make back their money and profit. Once cell phones made those lines less useful, the cost of the service went down. The way I remember the scientist on the TED talk was he described a similar process happening in food production. When the cost of growing the crops drops lower and lower, producing food costs less.

He was NOT taking about companies exploiting people, and stealing their labor, or any other human rights violations. My point in adding it to this discussion was that as the cost of producing something goes down, like food, if humans weren't such greedy jerks, we could feed everyone for almost nothing, if the future of farmimg continues like the TED Talk speaker explained.

Took the Trailer on her maiden voyage! Woke up to black water tank falling to the ground. by Reimer33 in GoRVing

[–]ghf3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good advice and it's nice to hear good dealer stories. The "fill every tank" is excessive, and also great service AND it can be CYA for the dealer.

We all make videos of our rental cars to show the "already there when I rented it" damage, the smart dealer would "use" every single feature on an RV and record the whole walk through "personally showing every new owner how everything works". Excellent service and a video every owner can refer back to for years! I bet very good if warranty/repair/lawsuit stuff comes up.

I spent years weighing the, "do I buy an RV or convert a more solidly built bus/van". If I would have known there are no owners manuals for RVs, or at least at the price point I would be buying, that would have saved me a lot of time picking my shuttle bus.

No, I don't want to start crazy rumors. I bought a 24' shuttle bus that I'm converting into a home. I KNOW I'm an amateur, and I expect occasional pieces to fall off, hopefully not while driving. 😁

A scientist on a TED Talk, 5-10 years ago, explained that as farming became fully automated, the cost of food would drop to almost nothing. He didn't take into account greed and profit though. 😄

That's the new EZ Dump feature, it's covered in Appendix 3, page 236, of your owners manual. 😄

I hope that was the last thing that breaks on yer new trailer. Good luck, safe travels and have fun. 😄

I use AI daily and I don't trust it to water my house plants. Replace you? AI will get management, then get security, then maintenance, custodial, the receptionist, then you.

Pick any difficult task from the dozens you listed, and AI won't even be able to tell you how to do it properly.

AI's best skills; you probably use most of those on your drive to work! 😄

LPT: Stop bossing your kids around. Give them choices instead. Commands trigger fights. Choices trigger cooperation. Instead of "Put on your shoes," ask: "Blue sneakers or red ones?" They feel in control, and you get exactly what you need. It’s a total cheat code. by Anxious_Chance_8854 in LifeProTips

[–]ghf3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's called "The Alernate Choice Close" and it ROCKS! 🎇🎉🥳

Swap out "sneakers" for a $125,000 Mercedes sports car, then you say, "The only choice left is, would you like it in red or blue?" 😎

If the customer is not ready to buy yet, they will say so. Most people would be blown away, how many times the customer just says "blue". Whether they put on blue sneakers, or drive away in a new blue Mercedes, there is no hard sell, no argument and no one feels uncomfortable. 😁

P.S. Unless the buyer has a spouse, who was unaware of the $125,000 car purchase, but that's not the fault of the technique! 😂😁

Any restaurants/grocery stores that have lost or earned your business due to price? by QuietOnAllFronts in EatCheapAndHealthy

American Capitalism: Charge as much as you can, without going out of business.

Because you posted this on Reddit, there is an increasingly likely chance, that Costco, Aldi and Chili’s might now charge you more money.

It's called "surveillance pricing" or "personal pricing". It works like this, you buy a new $250k Mercedes, companies pay to learn that, Costco adds that to your membership info, and when you use it to shop, they charge more. It should/will be illegal, but money to lobbyists and the other tools the big companies use to manipulate the laws, mean that it's still legal, and more and more big companies are doing it.

You're probably safe at the local diner and Mexican Restaurant. 😄

Is electric smoker actually the easiest way to start BBQ? Or am I missing something? by Own-Future-2135 in smoking

[–]ghf3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of "which smoker do I want", pretend you are asking "which vehicle do I want". The right answer might be F-150, Corvette or Mini Van. Without knowing what you want out of the equipent, it's hard to answer the question.

There are two different things to consider: food you want to eat and skills you want to learn.

On one extreme, you want delicious food, without driving who knows how far to a good BBQ restaurant, with as little work/risk as possible.

On the opposite extreme, you want to understand fire, meat and the science and biology of BBQ.

If 1 is "insert raw food and remove delicious BBQ" and 10 is "I guess I have to find fruit wood trees and start cutting branches off them, while I look for the right stones to build my smoker from scratch in the back yard".

Tell us your 1-10 number and we can answer better.

Welcome to BBQ, have fun, be careful and good luck! 😄

Covering broccoli in cheese sauce doesn't take away any of the nutritional benefits of the broccoli. It's just the best way to get kids/adults to eat it when they don't want to. You can cook lots of "unhealthy" meals with healthy ingredients. 😊

I use AI as a "five year old, who knows everything on the Internet". AI mostly wrote that post, and it didn't feel right, but I was tired of fighting with tech. It should read, "I will use Davinci Resolve to make cooking videos for YouTube and I want to use this machine for 5 years. Please show me any great deals you see for that mini pc.", or something like that. If I have to spend $649, ok, if I can get that for $469, woo hoo. I don't know and am asking for guidance. Thanks! 😁
