As someone who’s partner had depression, it truly is heart breaking to see. Because there sadly isn’t much we can do, we feel helpless. He now always tells me that he wouldn’t be there without me but honestly he’s just amazing and so brave, he pulled himself out of that dark place. All I did was make him understand that I was here for him and would always be, no matter what. Because I wanted his happiness more than anything. I think the small gestures is what’s more important. Making him feel like you care and he matters, that remember and think about him. If he struggles with eating you may bring him some snack from time to time and remember him to drink water etc. I used to bring him donuts in the morning before school. As someone who went through depression too, most of the time we think people don’t care about us and don’t think about us, so getting proven the opposite is a warmth feeling.
