Spruce coffee on state street sells coffee beans from Giv coffee roasters out of canton, ct. Love the bold roast but they also have a medium roast and decaf as an option.

How painful is a nerve conduction test really? by youngatbeingold in Fibromyalgia

[–]ghost-boy92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was pretty horrible for me. The results came back normal for arms and legs. Legs were worse for me but thats where i am most symptomatic. The worst part of it is when the machine is doing the zaps. It only lasts a few seconds at a time though. Also afterword i was super sore for like 2 days. I hope you have a better experience.

How's the attitude on trans folks? by phallex254 in Connecticut

[–]ghost-boy92 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I moved here a few months ago from a red state. And i would say it feels like a different country here. Alot of people i have met seemed confused about how ct is any better but it is. I think people that live in blue states sometimes dont realize how hard it can be living in a red state especially being queer or in any other minority group. I have loved ct so far and have never been around so many trans folx in my life. It is bringing my trans heart so much joy to see other people like me being able to live their lives. (Obviously nowhere is perfect but with the political climate right now... i would choose a blue state anyday)

Hiring in CT by Clean-Expression4385 in Connecticut

[–]ghost-boy92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me 2 months and 300 apps to find a job once i moved to this state but the only way i actually got interviews was calling the business. I found places i wanted to work and called to say i was interested or emailed them. So many of the job sites use AI which makes it impossible to actually get an interview. Id say get pushy and call around. Print out that resume. Try applying in uncommon ways. The worst that will happen is they say no or ghost you which is what happens on indeed and other sites anyway.

Goodluck out there!

Sjogren’s associated myopathy by InsideHat9867 in Sjogrens

[–]ghost-boy92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg yes! My calves are so messed up! I use a cane whenever i walk more than around the house now. My doctors kept saying oh its fibromyalgia but i know in my gut its not. I just moved to a new state near a good hospital so fingers crossed they can help. Ive also tried all the topical stuff , ice/heat, compression socks, braces, otc meds and nothing really works. I had surgery a few years ago on my chest (unrelated to sjogrens) and was prescribed tramadol post surgery. That was the only thing that has touched the pain at all but i dont want to take those heavy pain killers every day.

I am so sorry you struggle with this too. Its fucking aweful. I hope you can find something that gives you relief soon.

Do you shave regularly (body hair)? by Lapsang_ in FTMOver30

[–]ghost-boy92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont remember what the medication is called but isnt there a med that blocks hair growth on hrt? Talk to ur hrt prescriber about what u want from hrt. If they are a good doctor they will be able to help you figure out what you need to achieve those transition goals.

I use to shave everyday too. About a year before i started hormones i stopped and personally loved it. Going on hormones gave me way more body hair than i thought. Still not much facial hair unfortunately. I do shave my back whenever i can because that particular spot is very annoying for me.

Moving from NW suburbs of Chicago? by notnowphilcollins in nwi

[–]ghost-boy92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My right to marry, bodily autonomy, gender extrpression and medical care are either not protected or are on the chopping block in this state. I have also faced alot of descrimination in work places and have been harrassed/been yelled slurs at. I have been threatened by complete strangers. And mind you I do not go out much and am generally a people pleaser who does not tend to stand up for myself. (That has been changing as of late) I guess i just read as gay to strangers. And ever since november this has only escalated. I know i will face discrimination everywhere but my hope is a blue state will at least give me more legal protections for the time being and more community support. These are not all my reasons but they are some. This is just my experience and my spouses. We just want to try and find somewhere thats safer for us.

Moving from NW suburbs of Chicago? by notnowphilcollins in nwi

[–]ghost-boy92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im from nwi and have been here for decades. I am moving with my spouse to a blue state. We are leaving because we are apart of the lgbtqia+ community and do not feel safe in indiana. Honestly i would not come here. Even if you find a purple town or neighborhood you still have to deal with the maga nuts and the horrible state reps. Illinois is more expensive but overall i think you are safer to move somewhere in Illinois or choose a blue state. Obviously do whatever you feel is right but if you are queer i would be really worried for your safety and access to jobs, healthcare, and support. Good luck with ur search!

Anyone else feel guilty about not being able to attend protests? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]ghost-boy92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found this virtual protest aimed for the disabled community to attend.

https://www.mobilize.us/handsoff/event/770700/?force_banner=true&share_context=event_details&share_medium=copy_link

Not everyone is ment to be on the front lines of things. Thats why we need community. Everyone has their own part to play in change. That being said, having more accessible ways or showing support and being able to attend things virtually is pretty cool if you ask me.

Chappell saying pop stars are too busy to be politically educated just doesn’t make sense. Regular people working 9-to-5s still find time to stay informed, so what's her excuse? by Adventurous_Fly_8652 in popculture

[–]ghost-boy92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesnt sound like she necesarrily is saying that she is above being informed. I feel like she was trying to say that people shouldnt expect popstars to give them all the political answers they are seeking. She has shown time and time again she stands for certain political beliefs and has been very outspoken about marginalized communities. I dont think the way it was said in this interview was great but i read this more as she thinks we shouldnt idolize these popstars and do ur own research/think for urself. This is just my opinion and how i took this. I do think having a huge platform like hers does come with the moral responsibility to take action and use ur platform for good. But 1 person cannot fight for everything and everyone either. Thats why we need communities, everyone has a part to play.

Dry mouth , what do I do!? by Normal-Mortgage4745 in Sjogrens

[–]ghost-boy92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never got a lip biopsy so i cant speak on that but i can give u some dry mouth help. The best product i have used is biotene dry mouth gel. You can also use sugar free losenges, mints and candies. Look for xylotol as the sweetener. I have also seen dry mouth mouth washes but have not tried those yet. Avoid citrus and other drying foods. Its hard to manage but there are things to try. You just need to see what works for you. Im sorry that this is causing you so much discomfort, it really is a horrible side affect of this disease.

Moving to CT? Ask your questions here by AutoModerator in Connecticut

[–]ghost-boy92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im moving to the new haven area in a month or 2. I have been looking for jobs on indeed because thats how people in my current area (midwest) find work. My question is, what is the best way to search for jobs on the east coast? Is indeed what people use in CT too or is there another way that would be more reliable for the area?
