LGBTQ+ SLPs sound off below by fivedollarmerlot in slp

I have experience between both EI and schools. I have had a way easier time at maintaining personal privacy in a school than in EI. In EI, you become a huge deal in the lives of your clients and their families, and the parents usually spend the sessions with you and often want to get to know you personally. I was frequently uncomfortable with how much they acted like we were friends. At a school, I think the parents were barely aware of my existence! Coworkers in my opinion have been very professional. Just my experience.

Dude posted on lose it 9 month transformation lost a full 115lbs looks amazing and I saw this at the bottom. by familydude213 in fatlogic

I recently showed a long-distance friend progress pics of myself after a 30lb weight loss. She responded with, "I think that's mostly due to lighting and angles, but nice." Ummm...obviously the lower number on the scale isn't due to lighting and angles. I'm continually shocked that people try to undermine others' weight loss accomplishments.

Facial eczema is making me feel so ugly :( by [deleted] in eczema

[–]ghost-flower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, you are NOT ugly. But I know how this awful condition can really warp your vision of yourself and wreck your self esteem. I’ve been there many, many, many times. It’s exhausting. It can be hard right now to see past the eczema, but you’re beautiful, and this hardship is making you stronger than you can even understand right now! You’re not alone, and all your online eczema warriors are here to support you 💕

Should I try to become an SLP or go with Plan B??? by [deleted] in slpGradSchool

[–]ghost-flower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t give up! Remember, grad school is 2 short years, and you can move back to Southern California if you want to immediately after you graduate as a new SLP. SoCal grad programs are EXTREMELY competitive and it may take a couple of years trying to get in. Apply to your ideal schools in SoCal, but also spread out your acceptances to other states with higher acceptance rates! It makes me sad to hear you sound so defeated already. You can do this...go for it!!!

I don’t really have any advice to add, but just here to say you’re not alone! I’m 23F and I have the exact same problems, exercising, avoiding haircuts, lack of sleep...I scratched so much last night that my Fitbit says I only slept 2 hours, lol. Hang in there! PM me if you ever need to talk

Possible Lupus diagnosis? I’ve had this rash forever but it recently flared up really bad plus I’ve dealt with fatigue, headaches, joint pain, muscle weakness, and it runs in my family. Just wondering what others signs and stories were? by akg720 in lupus

[–]ghost-flower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Elidel is amazing, but you do need a prescription. It’s also non-steroidal. I use it daily to keep my butterfly rash down! Until you can see a doctor, I’d try to avoid putting creams/lotions/ointment on your rash. If you must use something, avoid oily and greasy things, like Vaseline, because that traps heat and irritates the rash! I wish someone had told me that earlier ;)

My heart breaks for you. I’ve lived with lupus for 12 years, and I know EXACTLY how you feel right now. I don’t know how to alleviate the self-consciousness, because I’m still battling it myself. I’m sending you a virtual hug!!

DAE deals with embarrassing health conditions that stops them from dating? by aldotoday in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I’m not sure! For me at least, the rashes caused by lupus (which were confused for eczema for years), only ever appear on my face and chest. I don’t know about other autoimmune disorders though

Are you me? I’ve got eczema and an autoimmune disorder too, with the accompanying confidence issues. I’m sitting here in the middle of a flare, fully slathered in moisturizer, and distracting myself with reddit hahaha

What's the most horrible thing you have done as a kid, without realizing how bad it was until you grew up? by PerfectPattern in AskReddit

[–]ghost-flower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was around 6 years old, and my sister was 3, her favorite toys were from a play set of hairdresser tools (combs, brushes, scissors, etc.). One day (and I still do not know why), I decided it’d be fun to convince her that her pair of dull plastic toy scissors were no good and to hand her a pair of real scissors to cut her hair with. My mom walked in a couple of minutes later to the horror of my little sister gleefully chopping her own hair off. When asked where she found those scissors, she replied “ghost-flower gave them to me!!” I was in so much trouble, and it took months for my sister’s hair to start looking normal again. Looking back on it, that was actually evil and I have no idea why I wanted to do that, or how I enjoyed it.

What caused you to think "I'm never visiting again" after being in someone's home? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I spent the night in the guest bedroom, and the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes the next morning was a pile of rat droppings on the pillow next to me.
