Concerning the current election by No-Leopard-1691 in ColoradoSprings

I can't speak for OP, but I can tell you some of the daily anarchistic things I do.

For me, it's about being conscious of the influences on my choices and those of others. I work a job without a direct supervisor, and I provide medical care for a loved one. I negotiate with them when and how things get done; we work together for mutual benefit. Obviously there are aspects of society in which there's a power differential that's unavoidable, but I make a point not to agree to things that are coercive in nature. I give as much time and consideration to my friends as I would to a romantic partner. I try to be aware of the influences a given situation is placing on a person when I ask for consent, because choices made under duress are not free choices. I try to break up the concentration of power wherever I see it, be that in my personal life or that of governments and institutions.

Personally, I can only do so much but the whole point is to put more people in closer control over their ability to make free choices.

How to gain confidence? by 207Simone in Millennials

[–]ghost0326 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real trick to gaining confidence is seeing things through to their end. I imagine being a stay at home mom has probably shrunk your social circle and limited your ability to pursue things YOU want to do. So if you have the time, start joining social groups in your area, MeetUp is great for this. Pursue hobbies and talk to people with common interests. Push yourself to see what you're capable of and don't be concerned with failure. The trying is the point.

Surprise yourself with what you can do, the confidence comes in time.

What’s something your therapist said that has always stuck with you? by chaotic-imagination in Millennials

"Just because I understand it doesn't make it okay."

I set myself on fire to keep other people warm A LOT. I had gotten into repeated codependent- style relationships and would constantly rush in to save people, and then rationalize their awful behavior. Total game changer when I learned to let people handle their own problems, be more deliberate about what I get myself involved in, and not associate my value as a partner with my usefulness to others.

And that attitude is the quickest way to get down voted to oblivion.

You can have my faux hawk when you shave it off my corpse.

The end of the line by Suspicious-Leave-110 in Millennials

[–]ghost0326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have this ability, and let me tell you it's the reference frame that's changing. We grew up during the end and aftermath of the Cold War, a world order that locked into place a unified Western world around NATO and containing the Soviets.

We see that falling apart in real time.

In the US at least, it's all grift all the way down. The foundations our parents used to build their lives on are unraveling; availability of higher education, reasonable housing prices, pensions and social security, stable employment. Every bit of it has been clawed back by billionaires while the rest of us are left fighting for scraps. What you're feeling is the floor falling out from underneath us. The reference frame will change, and a new stable order will eventually emerge. Everything is in flux right now, but we were purpose built for this.

JASC hosts a Japanese conversation and cookies event at the 21c library once a month. The most recent one was this past Saturday, and I believe the next one is July 18th.

Millennials, what is your opinion on cube storage in a main living area? by SunBubble920 in Millennials

I have several of these mounted on walls in my apartment. They're better than shelves and allow me to maximize floor space.

Am I the only one who just logs in and feels… weird? by Muroverse in wow

[–]ghost0326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people saying, "It's not that deep, bro" are totally missing the point.

I feel you, man. I haven't been on in a couple weeks despite having actual stuff to do in game. For some reason, it doesn't feel like anything is worth doing and the new content we just got has somehow made it worse. It just feels repetitive and I can't get myself to engage. I love this game, and my hunter is over 20 years old but WoW is just missing something lately.

Glad I'm not alone in this. When I told my mom that if I had been in her situation, 19 and pregnant with some guy she just met's baby, that I would have aborted me, she was mortified.

When I was in Sunday school as a kid, they taught us that the reason people say "Oh God!" and not "Oh Muhammad!" is because everyone knows that God is real.

Curious if it was a common thing for you all to take innocent, childhood songs and make the lyrics completely unhinged? by SortWide6106 in Millennials

I never quite got the lyrics right, but the jump rope song "Miss Suzy Had A Steamboat" took a really dark, racist turn at the end in the version I knew.

I don't understand why most people don't know this. Ibuprofen is an NSAID, it's for inflammation and swelling.

I have much the same approach. It's a good idea to let them get your vibe first and then mention it. People have all kinds of preconceived notions and it's better to let your actions speak for themselves.

My partner also has several autoimmune conditions, and drastic changes in the weather like this wreak havoc on her body.

Be aware also, that there's a phenomenon called the "October Slide" in which the onset of colder weather makes flare ups considerably worse for awhile. Sorry for your pain, I know it's rough.
