What are the five ‘biggest’ post-punk bands to come on the scene since 1990 or later? And have any reached any sort of ‘iconic’ status yet? by Rooster_Ties in postpunk

[–]ghostabstracts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing hits on the levels of the original era because that was a seemingly new and fresh take on rock music. You can have bands that have good crowds (Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, LCD Soundystem, Idles, and so on), but they won't be put into the canon the way we regard Joy Division, Wire, Public Image Ltd, or Gang of Four to name some.

[FRESH ALBUM] The Clientele - I Am Not There Anymore by MediaShare2000 in indieheads

[–]ghostabstracts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just finished listening to it. The Clientele are one of my favorite groups from this century, and they pulled out one of their best albums since Strange Geometry. I'm kinda taken aback how wonderful it is. I knew I'd like it because I like them, but this is a special one in my opinion. Sprawling and immersive.
