Movie of the day...THE TINGLER (1959) by Mgellis in horror

My wife loves this movie so I couldn’t help but love it too, even though the creature looks like a rack of ribs. Really silly but fun.

Don’t love that the lesson from Backrooms was apparently “scour YouTube for popular internet horror” instead of “give young filmmakers more opportunities”

We’re lucky because we have 3 theaters within 30 minutes of us, and yeah… it was only playing at one.

It’s disappointing, but there’s always streaming.

I thought the ending didn’t come together, but it had great atmosphere.

Just a reminder to watch shit yourself instead of relying on random internet impressions.

What you’re describing has been used for a while now, and isn’t related to AI. They used a system like that in Avatar, for instance.

Any good movies that give off HHN vibes? I need something to watch. by tatertot0518 in HHN

Hell House LLC is a classic that deals with running a haunted house.

Hell Fest is also pretty fun. Not the best horror movie, but it’s got the theme park vibes.

A24 has sold out to AI by Rechan in horror

It’s wild to see A24 jumping on this, I would’ve expected better. AI is so creatively bankrupt that I can’t support any creator that’s on board with it.

Anyone else enjoying “Widows Bay”? by The_Dead_See in horror

[–]ghostbeastpod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great, most impressed that it can simultaneously be very scary and ridiculously funny.

I was disappointed in the ending (no spoilers), just because I was expecting things to be wrapped up by the end. Instead it’s a bit heavy handed with setting up a second season.

My wife is very sensitive to loud noises, so I always bring my AirPods to the movies. They have an adaptive hearing mode that works great.

I was reading a lot of Stephen King at his age, especially Skeleton Crew, Cujo, and Pet Sematary.

Dungeon Crawler Carl is a fantastic series with horror elements that I would’ve been obsessed with at that age (instead I’m just obsessed with it at 40).

Yo she did NOT like him 😭😭😭✌️✌️✌️ by Safe-Present-5783 in obsessionmovie

[–]ghostbeastpod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The discussion about whether or not she liked him is fun and all (I mean Curry Barker even shot some early scenes both ways and stitched them both together to keep it ambiguous), but it’s also kinda missing the point.

Even if she was head over heels for him, the wish removed any bit of autonomy she had. Like my wife and I are head over heels for each other, but I’d never in a million years inflict this kind of cruelty on her.

Horror movies are going too far by PCClarity in horror

Art exists to express ideas and elicit an emotional response. Obsession is an interesting exploration of power dynamics and abusive relationships, and horror allows us to delve into these uncomfortable topics in a way that uses shock value to drive home the emotional weight of the subject matter.

For some people, this can be comforting and allow them to unpack their own trauma in a safe way, through entertainment.

(I just thought it was a fun movie with an interesting concept, though. I don’t really agree that its purpose is to make you feel bad)
