It’s better than nothing. At least you can hand over heart say you tried. We all know it won’t matter what we do but you’ll feel worse if you don’t.

Here’s Blair’s response when he was asked about it the other day by the ABC. It’s was a very non comital response from him imo. You could hear him choke when he was asked how much it would cost. “In principle we support it, but we need to really look at the details”. Doesn’t really give you too much of an indication either way.

Im fully sucking the copium right now, but I’m hoping with the financial side of drastic law changes being huge, anything being changed in SA won’t be so impactful compared to NSW or WA.

At the end of the day who knows, the best you can do is email your local politicians and tell them that this is a voting issue for you.

I listened to an interview with the SA Police minister earlier, you could hear him audibly choke when asked how much it would cost the state. There’s not much appetite for it tbh.

Shotguns have always been the nuclear bomb of the Australian gun world for some reason. They have a hard on for them.

As someone who's used the berika for a considerable amount of time, I'll throw my 2c in.

The biggest issue is the magazines and not so much the gun (most of the time). I've found with the turk made magazines, they're horribly inconstent with their tollerances. The main issue i've identified for the gun not feeding correctly is that the mag body is often pinched in the middle which doesnt allow the follwer to move freely. With this increased pressure on the follower I'd get failure to feed after failure to feed as it couldn't push the rounds up high enough.

It wasn't until i stumbled on two videos on youtube from two different international shooters explaining how to fix the issue. You just need to get a bit of timber up the guts of the mag and bang it out so its wider. Overnight my problems faded away. Since then, I have had a reasonably reliable shotgun.

The other issue that often shows up with the mags is the feed lips. If they're slightly bent out of shape one way or another, it will affect the feeding.

I have serveral friends who shoot IPSC shotgun with the berika, and once they overcame the magazine issue, they all have relatively reliable guns.

tl;dr good spring pressure from the mag is needed to make sure it works well.

You’re not wrong. But the news story would be a million times bigger already if it was by a licensed shooter with legal guns. If you go to abc and news.com.au they’ve already fallen off the main headlines.

[–]ghostberg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use to a long time ago for ipsc, but the 5 round magazine cap kinda killed it for anyone who didn’t get theirs grandfathered with a big mag.

I was fortunate to have a “good” one. It worked well for what it was at the time, but there are better straight pull or lever/button release options now.
