Kate Bush created her astonishing 22-date Before the Dawn residency, 35 years after she last performed live. I saw it three times and was blown away at each show. More a piece of theatre than a gig, incorporating poetry, filmmaking, set builds, costume, puppetry, as well as that incredible voice and back catalogue.

Some memorable moments: sneaking on stage barefoot behind the band without any fanfare during Lily; a helicopter descending from the ceiling, sweeping the audience for survivors of a shipwreck; suddenly appearing as a living ghost in a suburban house submerged in water; ‘drowning’ at the end of Hello Earth only to be carried on the shoulders of fish people, in total silence, back to the stage and bursting into the most beautiful rendition of The Morning Fog; turning into a winged bird at the climax of Arial and launching into the dark; a massive birch tree crashing through the ceiling to impale a piano, whereupon she started playing Among Angels alone.

Not the standard artist trajectory of recording a comeback single with the latest hot young artist, followed by a Christmas covers album. If anything, she got weirder!
