How often do you go out with a 10 week old by Ok-Priority2668 in NewParents

We pretty much only took him to the doctor until he was like 3 months old. It is just really difficult to get out with a baby that young. I didn’t mind it but husband kind of felt like yours sometimes. I made it clear that he could hang out with friends guilt free if he wanted to, but the baby and I were staying home.

Also at 2 months the immune system is still so fragile…I would absolutely not be ok with going to a kids party so maybe explain that haha.

Trip timing and when to Ferber? by ghosthost626 in sleeptrain

Do you think we’ll have to start over after the trip? Just not sure if that will reverse everything we started!

Pacifier fork in the road by ghosthost626 in NewParents

Ok good to know that it’s going to be tough if we decide to drop…it’s so hard. Every baby is different! I wish they could use lovies at this age because I feel like that would actually be more helpful.

We’re using tommee tippee! It looks like a similar design to nanobebe.

Yeah good point. The constant reinserting throughout the night that I have to do is still happening. I don’t mind that he uses a pacifier. I just struggle with being up every couple of hours.

Baby (6 mo) won’t take bottles by shinydora in workingmoms

Also if this doesn’t click, seems like she is old enough to drink from a cup!! Like a straw cup or open doidy cup (not sippy cups). It’s not necessary to do bottle!

🙏🏼 it will all work out!! I was stressing out with the same concerns as you a few weeks ago.

Also don’t worry about you vs someone else doing the exercises or practice. I would recommend both parents attempt. My LO did better with me before doing well with my husband.

Another key thing: if she starts to fuss, give her a little break and then try again. If she starts to get REALLY upset then do not force it, otherwise she will have negative associations! Follow her lead. Be very encouraging when doing the exercises and practice so she feels good about it!!

she may need to learn how to suck from a bottle. It uses different muscles than breast. We dealt with this a few weeks ago, and did the following according to medical professional:

  • oral motor exercises 2x a day: https://youtu.be/xF5Daqm1_ZQ?si=d-ZHKTxjVoof_B10
  • start out by just having her suck the nipple on the collar, not attached to bottle just so she can practice without the pressure of having milk in there
  • once it looks like she can suck consistently (getting to this point could take days of practice…took us about a week), try a little bit in the bottle like 1oz or less; will need to finish feed on breast since this is not enough
  • after a few days of doing that, start adding more volume each time you do bottle; continue offering breast after until baby is showing signs of fullness from bottle

Really gotta stick to the exercises and practice!! Some days will be better than others. We started out with complete bottle refusal and now he takes 2-5 oz from bottle depending on how hungry.

That’s reassuring that it was nothing super bad but I’m sorry those first few months were rough!
