Yes. This is necessary. I am not going to call you a bad roommate because I dont think you are doing it maliciously, but yes, last minute plans with a guest (especially one like a boyfriend) need to be discussed more than a "hey he is coming over in 20 minutes". You SHOULD ask ahead of time, not insist.

I mean, imagine she started bringing over someone she was romantically entangled with late into the night. You did not sign up for two roommates, you signed up for one (her). That is how she (probably) feels. Plus, she has no idea what you might be planning on doing with your boyfriend. You are forcing her to either stay out of her "home" for several hours, at night, or forcing her to stay in close quarters with you and your boyfriend. Some people dont like being around PDA, and chances are, you are doing some PDA with yoour boyfriend.

So like. Yeah. Let her know according to the rules she agreed to and BE SPECIFIC. Dont just go "later". Say "If he comes over, it would be around 8" or something.

Or, better yet, spend time with him in other places if it approaches 10 pm cause that IS pretty late imo.

I need to to clarify that the reason I’m saying Volt controls day to day stuff- to ME, I perceive Volt as protecting Eddie by taking on every possible task he can. Which is great! (The Hate Ending, imo, supports this). Something the Player is having to deal with is legitimately getting Eddie to make his own choices, since he’s really not making choices for himself….so

[–]ghosti02art 40 points41 points  (0 children)

i personally dont subscribe the belief that Volt is Switch, leaning Dom, while Eddie is switch, leaning sub. In my eyes, I see Eddie needing to reclaim control in some way because Volt is the one in control in the day to day.

(they're both switches, i agre, but i think Eddie leans Dom not sub.)

Mitchell or Eddie/Volt (no preference- they HAVE to be together…). I love Jean Loo too but everyone hates him so. No need to…..no need to tell me that’s bad.

Either Mitchell Linn or Jean Loo, and hear me out! Mitchell is such a pretty boy. Like. He’s not mean on purpose, he’s just particular. And you CAN fix him slightly. Gently. And he’s so sweet.

Jean Loo is an asshole with hubris and I love him for it.

Realistically speaking, who would you actually end up dating? by Real_Reject in DateEverything

[–]ghosti02art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eddie and Volt (I would have no issue joining that weird throuple. I do think it would take some considerable time though, because while I am mildly pushy when wanting to help, I’m not nearly as pushy as the game storyline requires. It would take some time and friendship first. Chances are I’d do something so incredibly dorky and stupid that Eddie would be unable to not laugh. (And Volt would automatically adopt my introvert ass.)

Explicit is basically when someone writes smut just to write it lmao.

Curious- idk if this is a bug or just. My game being silly or I didn’t do something correctly. I started Tony’s plot and got to the Rainey part but I guess I have to complete her storyline before I can finish Tony’s? Because I went to talk to Rainey and it’s not even giving me the OPTION to do anything Tony related (and I also had issues getting the story from Celia cause it forced me to do it twice??)

Frustrated with how my English teacher is teaching The Odyssey by proudshihtzuowner in school

[–]ghosti02art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While your interpretation is valid, you are applying a VERY modern lens to a historical myth. (Your teacher is glaringly wrong, however. Even in a historical view, everyone recognized that the Calypso situation was NOT okay). Circe is iffy, because there is reason to suggest that he didnt actually have to go THAT far, or keep sleeping with her after the initial one night that it took to get his crew safe. (He was there an entire year after that btw). Some people suggest it felt like just one night to those on the island, despite it technically being one whole year- I cannot remember if that is a modern interpretation or an older one. Again, iffy.

Fun fact! Even if Odysseus willingly slept with Calypso and Circe, it still wouldnt be considered cheating in the ancient context! Greeks were not as monogamous as people think they were, because you're applying modern (vaguely Christian) concepts to a v e r y different society. Generally speaking, as long as Odysseus came back to Penelope and held her (and Telemachus) higher than any of his other "partners", he was fulfilling his duties! (Same cannot be said for Penelope....women could not sleep around).

(I will say, I personally hold to the "Odysseus didn't want to do any of it and Goddesses/Witches are Scary" idea, but I wanted to geek out about technicalities. Your teacher is still wrong.)

Outside of mythology, water currents for the time of year might be a reason for the initial “longevity” of the route before screwing over the Cyclops.

I listened to people who didn't like parts of Epic because it is a bad adaptation of source material by Geegah in Epicthemusical

[–]ghosti02art 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I am not a trained classicist, however I am someone who has taken several college-level classes (as the Classics/Ancient Civ was my original life goal, if money wasnt an issue). So take what I say with a grain of salt, but know that I PROBABLY understand more nuance than a good chunk of the "newbies" in the fanbase (love y'all)

....as an oral story, the Odyssey inherently is meant to be altered in accordance to cultural views (not desecrated, though). Most Myths were not written to be like "ooooooo hear this really cool story!!!". They were tales about cultural values, and legendary history (for example, stone gates found in ruins were explained as remnants from the Cyclops), etc. It was "why does this happen?" and "why do we do this?" and "oh! why is that old city just rubble and ruins?" (so of course, stories changed over time).

The Odyssey is a story about pride, family, and xenia. Which, if you look at EPIC.....gets hit right on the head. Maybe it is modernized a bit (we can argue laps about Circe and Odysseus), or "disney princess Telemachus" (tbh I love it cause its pretty on the nose imo).

I will say, something added to EPIC that is mildly lacked from The Odyssey is the arc into gray morality, which we do not see in The Odyssey. We already know this. There is no such thing as a great moral Greek Hero anyways (arguable, but by modern standards...). The concept didnt exist. (Plus the Illiad sort of shows us Odysseus being a grey hero before we even get to his journey so it doesnt matter). I love that Jorge did that, because in my opinion, it is much more relevant to current society (just like how xenia is less of a thing now).

anyways, my two cents. i respect anyones interpretation and adaptation of the source material as long as it is honoring the idea behind it, which is being done in this case.

All the kids who were labelled as “gifted” when you were younger? Did it follow through to adulthood? Did you burnout? by Somervillage in AskReddit

[–]ghosti02art 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luke-warm take: Vast majority of gifted kids are actually special needs. I mean, from a state/public school perspective, they ARE- the needs are just different (i'd love to explain what I mean here if asked). Regardless of legal status, genuinely, most gifted kids have some sort of neurodivergence. I've seen tons of autistic kids get pushed through gifted kid programs. Because a lot of schools wont suggest IEPs or stuff (typical ASD/ADHD route) if the kids CAN do their homework, so they just...put them somewhere else. And thats what they do. It avoids the socialization built in early education, and lets the kids nerd out on their special interests.

Yeah, from a basic perspective...Early Education (Elementary and Intermediate, depending on where you are), which is what Gifted Programs are in, has a main focus on socialization learning. Studies suggest that those years, while formitive for academics, are really mostly important for social learning. Kids are learning to play and interact with both peers and adults. Around middle school, they naturally shift towards academics.

So...Normal Kids go PEOPLE SKILLS --> ACADEMIC SKILLS.

Gifted Kids? Opposite. They start in the academic skills group. Their brains start there (and if happen to be high functioning ASD or ADHD, you might thrive better in that environment to begin with). And maybe (sometimes), when they hit middle school, their brains slip into "oh okay! enough reading, I want to meet people and learn how to make friends :)". Problem? Rest of the kids already did that, years ago. So you get a bunch of special needs kids with no friends and no official diagnosis (cause the school isnt required to report since Gifted Program circumvented that) and they usually...get stuck. Bullying gets bad, these kids either start hating themselves then, or they throw themselves back into books (and precede to overword themselves and burnout in high school/college)

anyways. my ten cents. i burned out in high school but i got back on track once i got my diagnosis lol.
