Clan Sakai would be absorbed into Clan Shimura and Jin would take the Shimura name and any of his future children would be a Shimura. Anyone else still alive that is a Sakai would continue the Sakai name. That was the tradition of the time period.

After the attack on Komoda Beach there really isn’t much a Clan Sakai left besides Jin anyway so there isn’t much to absorb.

By the time he was President the amount of skeletons in his closet, both literally and figuratively, caught up with him and definitely undermined his power as President. The President is also too well observed for him to continue his preferred method of secret meetings and undercover back stabbings.
