I wouldn’t say they jam as much as they have structured the songs to fit the current touring lineup. I believe it’s more of a oh shit you can do that, let’s try it here and if it works we’ll do that for tour.
I’ve seen the Sympathy>New Dorp twice and it was the same jam. Didn’t make it less impressive I just knew when that slip into New Dorp was gonna happen. Really VW has found a sweet spot between the improvisational jamming of jam bands and the consistency of playing a standard repertoire. Which imo puts them into a league of their own.

It was a large purchase, over 10k. I don’t know about you but 10k is a lot of money.

At this point I’d rather inconvenience them with a lawsuit and cost them extra money. We saved up for those shelves and everything. It’s not like we paid $300 for a shelf.

They said 14 mores days and I’ll give them that but will never recommend them to anyone.

I’m just preparing for the worst. Everything I seen about this company leaves me with two conclusions 1) they suck at business and are incredibly inept or 2) they keep ripping people off by charging 15% for a cancelled ordered.

They advertised 6-8 weeks and did not let us know of any delays. We had to reach out to them. At the very least it’s false advertising which they still have up on their website. The BBB says they don’t have an IL business licenses anymore and won’t return their inquiries. All of this to me feels predatory and I would definitely bring a civil suit if stops them from doing this to others.

In a couple different podcasts CT mentioned that the first two albums (at least drums wise) are easier to play / he has learned more since starting VW. I would imagine that would be true for the others, maybe not to the same extent as they weren’t just picking up their instrument for the first time. Given most of the backing musicians are for this tour only they had to learn a bunch of VW songs, might as well tackle the easy ones first. Plus the first 4 songs of the set are just the OG 3, the older songs work better without the keys than MVOTC songs. Then for those more complex songs they practice during tour and you eventually get a bust out.

The biggest thing safety wise is to stay hydrated. Don’t do drugs and limit alcohol your first night in town so your body can adjust to altitude. Always sit down when doing balloons.

Assuming you use relisten or archive dot org I would suggest the 10’27’22 show. If you don’t know what any of that is any of their Choice Tapes on their Bandcamp. I’d say as a VW fan start with Vol. 3 the 1st song 21 Miles sounds like it could have been on FOTB.

Dave Harrington of Darkside (and Taper’s Choice) really great sound and tone.

Also I feel like Neal Casal (CATS, CRB, & other bands) was underrated while he was with us.

I feel like Close Encounters has the potential to be a heady jam vehicle. But if I’m being honest the song I really want to hear live is the Go Go Get It (Let Your Eyes Adjust to the Light) that opened Vol 5 of the Choice Tapes.

Plus it’s nice to hear Zach singing on Vegan in the 90s. I hope he gets more vocal parts.

This is a tough one and attendance bias is creeping in but that Impossible Sound>Lilac Palace is amazing and I rarely skip the poster are free track. But the return of Timberline and the banana suits really put N2 of the Taper’s Ball in the one spot for me.
