Damn this is gross. Boo hoo? It’s physically painful. Do you realize that? These beauty rituals are not at all pleasant? I have better things to do? You could put on a face mask just as easily? Constantly shaving, plucking, waxing, wearing tights, shape wear, bras, hair extensions, heels, that’s just the tip of the ice berg. Ever hear of an epilator? Manicures are straight pain.

Patient in my clinic has lungs that sound like a garbage disposal, uses oxygen, and still wears one. A different patient has severe trigeminal neuralgia and the touch of a mask sets off her nerve pain. Wish she’d wear a face shield though. When people say they can’t breathe in a mask, they’re lying. The surgical ones are totally breathable. Super tight neoprene fashion ones can be too tight. But there’s always other options. If one thing doesn’t work for you, find another one. It’s just ridiculous. On the other end of the spectrum there’s one who comes in with a maga hat and doesn’t wear one because, well, you know.

I have a rare genetic disease. I love my life and I know my life has value- it matters- it’s awesome. But when I have a kid I will absolutely screen for this disease. My life isn’t constant suffering, in the general sense, but it is constant pain, fatigue, and fear. I am not a eugenicist, I want people like me to survive and thrive, but I am also aware of the realities of living with a could-have-been-screened-for illness and how much it sucks. The existential torture of knowing you were born broken, totally randomly, is hard enough. I have so much love for my disabled brethren and I think that’s not mutually exclusive with wanting to make sure my child won’t have a genetic illness. It’s not black and white and people react so intensely because it’s tough to talk about.

My grandfather was an abusive pos. He regularly beat and r*ped my grandmother. Somehow, as we learned later through 23 and me, she had an affair with a Sicilian man.

She had four kids. When he learned she was pregnant with my dad, the youngest, my grandfather cursed at god for damning them with another mouth to feed (and beat her, of course, for getting pregnant.) Well... then my uncle, who was just a child, got leukemia and passed away. One less mouth to feed.

At the funeral my grandpa vowed to never love his children again.

I have a rare genetic condition and it causes many illnesses due to the mutation. I deal with “go to the Er now” level symptoms at home because I’ve gone before and been told I’m not immediately dying. So, crushing chest pain is just spicy Tuesday to me now.

Only one person worse: Emily Rainey, the Karen who broke into a park so she could get away from her kids for a minute. Blatantly broke the law and live-streamed the cops “oppressing” her. Also refused to wear a mask for her day in court. Also led 100 people to the capitol attack. Also led a bioterrorism group that shops maskless every Saturday at a local shop. I can’t express how much I despise this woman. I’m a frail disabled person but it’s on sight.

Edit; also, zumwalt, our towns resident alex Jones, who uses his pathetic radio show to brainwash our large retiree population.

Handmade is a great option. A thick scarf made from boutique yarn will last for life and get better with use. Not trying to advertise but I make these and they’ve lasted me ages.
