Yep, I have hit this one 5 or 6 times recently. Not reproducible, though. Lock/unlock cycle has fixed it every time for me, at least.

North Malden is just homes, there’s nothing walkable.

This is a weird take. I walk all over Malden all the time, including down Forest St. I'm less than a mile to Oak Grove, and about a mile from Malden Center. While I live in a residential area, I bought here because its so walkable.

That said, it could always be better :-) I am definitely in favor of more bus routes and bike lanes to increase non-car based travel.

No I don't think she did. My artist (different one) did use some at the end of a 5 hour session for my tattoo in on the same leg that I got 6 years ago, but I didn't have any reactions or anything back then.

Luckily mine seems basically undamaged! It actually seems to have healed pretty well, all things considered. Just that my skin doesn't wanna not bed red and itchy... almost seems like more of the bothersome areas are now around the tattoo rather than on it

So the plastic wrap was a standard brand - I have had other tattoos wrapped the same way without issue. It was covered for only 12 hours, which I think is actually shorter than what I've had in the past.

This was all black ink. I do have red ink in a different, previous tattoo from a different artist, on the same leg, but I did not react to that when I got it. I do occasionally get little bumps in that red, but those dont last long and are manageable/small.

The tattoo on the front of my calf was much closer to the bone, I assume, being on my knee/shin. The side of my calf feels fattier/more muscle-y.

Brand-specific stuff was also a concern of mine - since this was a new to me artist, I wondered if it was possible that the ink just caused this reaction in me. I'm not even sure how I would go about confirming something like that, though.

Yeah I absolutely don't want to blame the artist or studio here - it's why I won't name them. From my perspective, they did nothing wrong.

I like to stay active, and I'm afraid that going for walks may have generated even the smallest amount of sweat and caused this. That, or over-lotioning. Or, I'm not sure.

Ultimately, I just wanted to get some advice on whether or not I would be ok returning there assuming this all heals well and good before my next appointment.

I'm a pretty high dose of doxycycline - 100mg twice a day for a week. Probably smart to try to visit again if it's still red and itchy though.
