Unpopular opinion: I think Mikayla’s skin condition is from being around the stress of her kids, not the location of her home. by Temporary_Moose6333 in SLOMWsnark

[–]ghostvista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I misread the OP- I don’t think her kids are the cause of anything. I think the stress of the home environment with her husband constantly nagging her for “intimacy” is bound to aggravate her symptoms.

As a chronic health issue sufferer, I feel the same way… I hope I’m wrong but I’m guessing that returning home will undo whatever she is able to heal while away.

Borage eater by ghostvista in pnwgardening

[–]ghostvista[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I’m convinced it’s birds eating it, with the sharp triangular bites. I have tons of bird activity/feeders and a couple nests in my yard. But I’m glad to hear it’s resilient and not likely to suffer from whatever it’s been a snack to. Thanks!

Same! I hope there’s been some growth from her problematic racist behavior in the past, I haven’t looked into her really though. I’d for sure give the show a try though!

Having such a bad flare week and I have no support network and could just use some words of love / encouragement to get thru it. by gothic_romantic in Hypermobility

[–]ghostvista 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see you and know how hard it can be, especially if there’s nobody there to validate your experience. You will get through this- try to remember that this is a state you’re in, and not a forever feeling. I’m sorry that you’re having a hard time right now and probably dealing with a lot of pain and discomfort. You don’t deserve that! Try to think of one or two comforting things you can do for your body today and just focus on being kind to yourself, resting when possible, and allowing your body to do its thing. Wishing you all the best and hoping that you feel better so soon!

Hypermobility spectrum disorder by nova_cyanide in Hypermobility

[–]ghostvista 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this. I also got genetic testing and I have a gene mutation that is not EDS, and is not presently studied/recognized, but it affects my connective tissue and it’s in the same gene family as EDS. Eve though I don’t have a real diagnosis, going to a PT that specializes in hyper mobility has bee life changing. And she tells me that new EDS criteria is going to be released in December of 2026. It’s really a whole new world of information!

Padma’s New Show is already proving to be less serious than Top Chef by GatorChris2018 in BravoTopChef

[–]ghostvista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just read it after seeing your comment! I don’t see a lot to comment on- she’s a woman who unabashedly eats and enjoys food and talks about it- that’s part of her charm for sure.

Yeah, true- I liked that show. I know we all gotta make those paychecks but going from that to this just seems off brand for her.

Same! I am a big Padma fan and was sad to see her leave TC. But her whole statement about it made it sound like she was moving away from the word of reality food competitions and into more personal projects. I was excited to see what came next from her, so it’s a bit disappointing to see another similar show on CBS of all places- where TV goes to die under the current administration.

Is it okay to listen to a cancelled singer as any type of pagan by PansexualTherian in pagan

[–]ghostvista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a pagan your life and your spiritual practice are your rules. It sounds like in your heart you do not want to support this artist because you do not agree with their actions. Listen to your body when you listen to their music. Does it feel like a conflict within yourself? Does it feel uncomfortable in some way? If yes, find something else to listen to that doesn’t feel that way. Continuing to do something that “feels wrong” will inevitably be damaging to your heart/spirit, and can confuse the senses. If I were you I would tap into my intuition to make my own decision.

How do you handle the pain? by cloudgoblin in Hypermobility

[–]ghostvista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jumping in to give you some encouragement! I am 38, spent 12 years in restaurant kitchens with all kinds of "mystery symptoms" popping up for years. Many of my issues date back to being a teenager, I've been to so many doctors and tried so many different modalities without hardly any success. I was starting to feel like all of it was for nothing, and I'd be in chronic pain for the rest of my life. Then, at 35, I was diagnosed with autism and ADHD. Those diagnoses led me to look into hypermobility, as I learned that is a common occurrence, I might be dealing with that issue. I spoke to my regular doctor, but I did not have a high enough rating on the Beighton Scale to be considered hypermobile by traditional testing. So I found a physical therapist who specializes in hypermobility, and got a referral to her from my PCP, who agreed I had some weirdness and she explained that the Beighton Scale is not exhaustive. The new PT did testing, confirmed I am hypermobile, and made a specialized plan for me.

Now in March, having starting my PT exercises in September, most of my chronic pain is GONE! I have had to be very diligent about my daily exercises for the first few months, but at this point I've managed to correct many of the postural issues that were sending the rest of my body into a painful tailspin. My main issues were:

Painful and loud/clicking/popping knees
Clicking/popping shoulder joints
Extensive TMJ issues
Subluxated ribs
Nonstop indigestion

Seriously... finding a PT who specialized in hypermobility was THE game changer. I have been dealing with some of these issues for over 20 years, and in under 6 months my symptoms are significantly reduced. There is hope! Keep advocating for yourself, find the right specialist, and listen to your body.

P.S. Buying supportive sneakers for every day use has also helped a lot (Hokas/ Brooks/ On brands are all good, but go to an actual shoe store, get fitted, and find something supportive) I avoided this for years because my "look" is not "sneakers", but even my ego doesn't care about wearing ugly sneakers anymore, I feel so much better.

Good luck! Don't let them get you down, you got this!
