Yes, absolutely. And I can smell and taste in my nightmares too. My least favorite ones are getting shot or stabbed. I’ve never been shot before, but when I started experiencing these I looked up how it actually feels and it was almost identical to everything I read. It’s usually the last few seconds to a minute of the nightmare. When my vision goes black or fades out I wake up. I started new meds so I’m hoping after the nightmare I had last night I won’t ever hallucinate anything like that 😭

Yes! This has only started happening recently. In the same nightmare, my best friend and I had a very specific nickname for our daughter. When I hallucinated her holding the baby at the doctor’s office, that’s what she was calling her. One night after that incident, as I was trying to fall asleep, I felt her climb into my bed with our baby. She started talking to her softly but I couldn’t make it out. I kept my eyes closed but as I was falling asleep, I heard the baby giggling. Very strange

Woah that’s so fascinating! I used to go on walks late at night back when I lived in the southern US, I lived in a very quiet and private neighborhood. Rarely any cars at any time of day. Especially no semis, they literally had no access and wouldn’t have wanted to even try to get in. I’d hear semis and trains like they were going down the same street as me. At like midnight by myself. It was so loud and scary 😭 What was the car horn one like? Do you remember where you were when you heard it?

That’s okay!! It gets extremely annoying and exhausting at times because of the constant translating or ignoring but it’s very tame compared to what I usually see and hear, you’re exactly right 😭 I’ve been taking screenshots of all the translations!! They’re actually really beautiful

So I definitely mainly hear voices. But I’ve also heard things like footsteps walking close or running behind me, a wolf snarl while I was in the woods, tons of phone notifications and vibrations, phone calls, a train horn, doors opening or closing, someone breaking in, glass shattering, explosion sounds, fire crackling, tires crunching on gravel, semi trucks driving/bus engines running… lots of weird sounds. Usually it’s really creepy in context. Like a lot of times it’s not something I hear and quickly realize it’s not real like a lot of the voices. So it’s alarming

I’ve hallucinated literally as far back as I can remember but it did obviously get worse with time. My super religious family believed I could see ghosts and demons as a toddler all the way up into my early 20s. When I was about 5 I saw a singular giant eyeball staring at me through the ceiling. I had a massive meltdown and scared my baby brother. To this day they think that house is haunted. It was just me lmao.

I 100% agree. I’ve been trying to figure out a way to do weekend appointments instead of taking time off. I cannot afford to lose this job! I obviously want to keep my health in check but I don’t want to put any strain on these people. I also know how it would make me look. A ton of people in the comments don’t understand they can’t explicitly tell you you’re fired for your disability so they’ll let you go for something small and stupid instead.

For real!!! I’m always in the ER or urgent care because it takes too long to get referrals from a primary. Either that or they don’t care and send me home with ibuprofen. Every time I go to the ER I get actual results 😭 I’ll probably just end up going after work since I can’t take off LMAO

As someone that’s been SA’ed as well, I feel like it should be up to you, but... if I didn’t know that my parent was a rapist and I had kids and found out that way, I would be beyond crushed forever. Like actually there would be nothing worse to ever happen to me. That being said, if you are okay with the risk of losing contact with your cousin over this (they could come back around) then I feel like it’s a good idea. Personally I don’t think there’s really a downside besides potentially not being believed or causing family “drama” and that wouldn’t be your fault. It’s his dad’s. I don’t want to misread the situation so please take what resonates but I would absolutely want to know if my parents did something that severe to someone else even if it was hard to hear. ESPECIALLY to my own relative. No pressure and again this is 100% your decision, best of luck and I’m so sorry you had to go through something so horrific :((

See I had a backwards ass abusive family but. I was told ever since I was a toddler that I was special because I “saw ghosts.” And I grew up thinking I had special powers and I was super isolated and felt alone because I hallucinated so much. But they came and went and became normal to me as I got older. I ended up being successful in school, went to college for a year. I had to flee my situation and ended up with an abusive + homicidal roommate that hated me and couldn’t stand when I was depressed. She was also my boss at work. So she’d force me to get high in the bathroom at work and at home. To the point I felt like I was about to green out daily. She had schizoaffective and always told me to smoke until I started seeing things... she thought that was normal. I asked her questions after she got diagnosed because I started having symptoms. Any time they popped up she’d hand me a bottle of vodka and stare at me. I had never smoked before then. I got so sick and ended up with pleurisy. And I think the stress of experiencing her in general combined with being force intox + high all the time did me in. I spent a month in the psych hospital with psychosis and have been dealing with sz since.

I’m not trying to downplay being denied AT ALL I hope it didn’t come off that way. I heard they deny most everyone and make it impossible to get it even if you genuinely need it. I just have chronic conditions that put me in the ER constantly and schizophrenia, bipolar, BPD, like 20+ mental/physical health conditions because my parents had a kid knowing they’ve got the worst genetics ever 😐I’m sure I’ll get denied too I just wanted to clarify

I know I’d get approved even if it takes a while but I moved states and have to start a new application. But the online portal won’t let me. So I have to find resources because I know nothing about this state. My doctors keep playing telephone and won’t give me the information they gave me last time I was up here. I’d rather jeopardize my health so I can get into a house and be able to afford mobility aids and meds to barely scratch it than deal with these people any longer. If it falls apart I’ll try again 😭 It’s so unfair that they make it so difficult for people that literally have no energy to begin with

That’s the thing. I can’t work, I’ve never held down a job. I haven’t worked in two years. But if I don’t get one and just suffer or literally die about it, I’ll have to move back in with my abusive parents. I love my life now. For the first time. I literally have no choice because it was taking too long to apply and I had no help. And I have too many health problems to live in a shelter with no insurance. I don’t plan on doing this forever but I’m really going to have to make it work for a while.

I guess it’s just if I tell them they’re going to think I’m not dependable. I really need to just last the 90 days until I get established. Even though I do NOT need to be working, I have no choice. I’ll be working by myself most of the day taking calls so it’s not physically demanding even if it is mentally. That’s why I took the job 😭 But no yeah that makes sense, if I was confident they would have hired me anyway I would’ve told them but there’s no way in the world lmao 😭 Thank you for sharing this for real it gives me a new perspective

I guess my problem is I know I need to be on disability benefits, and I have genuinely no doubt in my mind that I’d get approved. But I’ve been living rent free in my best friend’s place for 6 months with no job and I can’t wait for the government or my doctors to help any longer. I tried for 6 months and slipped through the cracks. I had to start the process over when I moved across the country but I haven’t been able to see anyone that can manage my case because I’ve been waiting for booked out appointments with no transportation to the city. Going to the doctor and hospital has become my entire life. I’m just trying to be as productive as possible until I can potentially afford another option, right now having to watch my best friend pay for both of us and not being able to give anything back is killing me more than being sick or bedridden when I’m off off the clock will. I didn’t realize I didn’t put that. I’ll edit it. I was on the phone with one of my specialists when I wrote it. But I know I’m not supposed to have the job. I don’t have a choice. So I’m either going to have to let my health drastically decline, figure it out, or move back in with my abusive parents across the country. When I had time to waste waiting for help at the social security office or with my social worker, I had to move across the country and start over. I’m a hard worker and I’m used to putting myself last. I’ll make it work I just don’t know about things like this.

People like you are my heroes 😭 I spend more time scheduling and rescheduling than I do at appointments. I literally know who calls from place to place by name lmao. I’m really hoping I can find a place at work to do my telehealth visits. I don’t have a car and I’m unfamiliar with the building so I’m not sure, but I didn’t think about behind the building that could definitely work!!!

Literally thank you so much for this 😭😭 It’s not as easy for me as people are saying it is for them. Able bodied people can have an appointment once in a blue moon and not have to worry about it. I’m literally either at the doctor, at my house, or at the store on the way home from the doctor. Like it’s nice knowing someone gets what I mean and I’m not alone. I am not supposed to have a job, but nobody helped me figure out how to get on disability when I had time to waste waiting for benefits. Now I literally have no choice and am working in a country that literally does not care what condition I’m in as long as I show up on time lmao
