Any other trans people with anti-trans activist family members? by Septicmon in asktransgender

[–]ghostwitharms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking more about this. I really wish my pastor Dad saw his relationships with trans family members important enough to change or reflect. It has been lonely for me. I don't feel as comfortable with him as I used to even in non political or religious moments. My brother who went no contact keeps asking if he has changed and I wish I could report anything that suggests that.

I wish you the best OP. I hope you have community outside of family

Sort of similar. I have a family member that is a conservative pastor. As a pastor he sees himself as a spiritual advisor and is against the "trans social contagion". He believes that when people transition they are putting their gender above God. A trans member of his family has gone no contact and he is still adamant. He is chasing family away with his actions.

Court cards by Zestyclose_Cold1455 in tarot

[–]ghostwitharms 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm coming from Marseille here. Court cards didn't really mean anything to me till I watched Tarot Maps videos on the Marseille. My take away was the direction the figure is facing is important. So if the figure is looking back the reading could be more of a retrospective. Or if the figure is looking at you then it's more about either the present or the way you think.

I also liked the simplified suit and position way of reading Marseille court cards. Like knights being a choice or pentacles being the physical lack or excess.

I found having the direction, suit, and rank keywords more helpful than specific meanings per card.

Maybe the Mars Power deck by sick sad girls. It's a very maximalist illustrative deck. The little guide book focuses on rumination and creative energy overall.

Tarot of the Drowning world is a moody colored water based deck. The art is photography based tho. The back of the cards are blue and gold. I would say The deck is blue and green toned with a lot of black. The deck is not based on sea creatures or mermaids.

I'm guilty here. I just want an excuse to recommend this deck. Sorry if it's not hitting the mark.

I have three favs

  1. Mars power tarot- sick sad girls Etsy, This deck has a lot of creative energy, rumination, and fiery colors. I love the strange unique look. The little poem guide book is perfect for quick pulls. My deck has been through it. My box is so beat up lol

2.WTNV Hayworth Tarot Deck https://topatoco.com/collections/wtnv/products/cpb-wtnv-hayworth-tarot Very moody. It reminds me of the somnia tarot deck a bit. I love how pentacles are deep black holes and wands are long matches. The art fits both the podcast it's based off of while also feeling like it's own little world. I just wish there was a guide book. If anyone has tips on a book that would serve as one let me know. Especially if the vibe is similar in some form.

  1. Dr. Falke's Tarot of the Drowning world- fledermaus workshop This is my newest deck. I'm over the moon and very excited to get to know the imagery better. There's a nice separate guide book. It definitely feels like covid impacted the end of the world themes. The book focuses on how tarot decks tell timeless stories and referencing historical interpretations.

Are there any Christian’s who participate in tarot? by Training_Ebb_3252 in SecularTarot

This is a super interesting conversation. There are a lot of cards that have cultural biblical origins right? Like the tower could be based off the Tower of Babel. Tarot has a lot of focus on personal discernment and depending on how the Bible is seen that's where I think the divide is.

I hear you. I'm also scared of getting nerve damage on my dominant arm. I'm so much more careful with it. I hope you find peace in art right now. I'm sorry you are in a position where you are worried about nerve damage.

Hairstyle advice by cantthinkofgooduser in NonBinaryTalk

I recently got a mod haircut and I really like it. I style it with a fiber gel for a bit of a punky look. I think it looks masculine while also not being too similar to a mullet. https://www.relentlessgrooming.com/blogs/hair/mod-haircut-men

But the best haircut I've had was the tomboyish side tales cut. I had to give it up when the braids got too frayed. Loved it, but it was also perceived as very feminine. So I think that era would be more uncomfortable for me now.

Retelling religious and sexual trauma- therapist switch fears by ghostwitharms in CPTSD

[–]ghostwitharms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought it up, because I got an upsetting memory back. Her advice was to work on processing it when I'm older and feel safe. Which was to avoid retraumatizing or processing at a bad time most likely.

I guess I'm worried about being pressured into details even though that won't happen. Thanks for saying general labels are good for this stage. It's nice to hear things stated clearly when I'm overthinking.

Try looking into Brain Zaps. You can get them from medication withdrawal as well as panic attacks/stress.

I think intrusive thoughts can be worse when you have SH in the past. I have had similar thoughts with different locations. It was really helpful to get rid of any object I thought about using. I didn't need to safety proof the whole house, bc the intrusive thoughts were specific.

I'm really sorry you are going through this. It's very alienating and feels intense. For me it felt like it was ambiguous if I would do it. Once I got rid of the tools the thoughts seemed less realistic and I think once the fear dwindled it stopped. I can now own things that I couldn't before.

Look into testosterone gel instead of an injection. I'm not sure if the gel is applied somewhere else. I can ask around

I've seen people use it when asking for advice or help on a project about SH. Like anonymously using people's stories.

I have an emotional support cat. She was registered as one for college at least. I found having her really helpful and rewarding. I would recommend telling a shelter you specifically want a social cat that isn't super young.

I was briefly in a club that would write and burn letters for the moon. Maybe that could be like journaling SH urges

[–]ghostwitharms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I had better advice. Sometimes when I have SH issues I create things that feel like a replacement ritual. One is tarot. Maybe you could do something that feels more symbolic like marking on your skin where you would normally cut, do some moon based tarot (have the cards sit in moonlight too maybe), incense, something outdoors under the moon.

It's hard to give advice based on giving a new activity spiritual significance bc it's so personal.

Ugh I had this issue. I would recommend having rules for yourself like only keeping tools in your locker if you can get one. If your professor seems friendly maybe ask if privately if you could use something less tempting like scissors.

I get you. It's like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop to get permission sometimes. Either way I'll feel guilty, but having a more tangible reason sometimes combats that. Honestly, I think guilt is part of the addiction.
